The House Manager shall be committed to a lifestyle of servant leadership, willing and able to create a peaceful and structured home atmosphere. She must be firm yet loving in relationships, realizing many women will come with deep hurts associated with men and authority figures, and will not have had positive experiences with structure, close relationships and vulnerability. A social service background coupled with prior education and/or experience with practices relating to trauma-informed care, grounding and de-escalation are preferred. Flexibility, critical thinking and initiative are critical.
Work schedule is 2-10:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:
Be honest, have integrity, a strong work ethic and be able to serve as part of a team.
Have strong boundaries and be comfortable giving correction and enforcing the guidelines of the program.
Be qualified on the basis of personal character to work with pregnant and parenting mothers.
Have had one year of experience involving supervision within a residential care setting, or experience of a practical nature in which skills can be translated.
Be capable of providing leadership and spiritual guidance to each of the women according to her specific needs.
Shall have a sympathetic understanding of each woman and her unique situation.
Shall not be the perpetrator in a substantiated report of neglect or abuse.
Be a high school graduate.
Be able to stand for long periods of time, work indoors and outdoors, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Have a valid Class C California Driver's License and a clean driving record.
While not all encompassing, the Job Duties of the House Manager shall primarily consist of the following:
- Provide spiritual leadership to women and oversee devotions.
- Shall have the responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the home and care of the women.
- Maintain upkeep on house as much as abilities allow. Request repairs as needed.
- Maintain a comfortable and clean house, with the assistance of the residents.
- Schedule various activities of the home, including responsibilities, as well as special programs.
- Help the women meet appointments and other responsibilities. Know where each woman is when the woman is outside the home.
- Help monitor leisure time activities, including basic monitoring of cell phones/devices, TV, music, phone calls, and visitation.
- Encourage and possibly provide a means of physical exercise and recreation to the women.
- Set an example of a loving individual with the ability to guide and direct challenging situations.
- Assist each woman in developing her gifts and talents by recognizing such gifts and lending encouragement and praise.
- When needed, help residents enroll in the local school or GED program. Assist with tutoring when necessary, and when applicable, maintain necessary contact with teachers and attend conferences and school functions.
- Maintain an environment that is joyful, relaxing, and peaceful.
- Maintain an attitude that promotes availability to the women.
- Be aware of each woman’s emotional needs; work to help them enter into the activities of the home and improve their self-image.
- Enforce program guidelines and discipline in a loving manner.
- Set up and maintain work schedules geared to running an efficient home.
- Assign daily household duties to all women.
- Assume responsibility for food budget and ensure proper food supply and management of funds.
- Plan and supervise preparation of well-balanced meals. Keep log of meals served.
- Be willing to assist women through labor and delivery, if labor coach is unavailable.
- Model and teach women good habits for personal hygiene and home maintenance.
- Assist the Board of Directors and Executive or Program Director in representing the Home during presentations to local church and civil groups, as well as assist with efforts to maintain relationships within the community.
- Be willing to minister to boyfriends and/or birthfathers, as opportunities arise.
- Attend any workshops or conferences that are recommended to increase skills and staff development.
- Assist residents in making all necessary medical appointments and providing or arranging for transportation to all necessary appointments and activities.
- Assist in maintaining an up-to-date medical file on each woman.
- Be responsible for notification of appropriate people for medical and other emergencies, as well as the birth of her child.
- Be responsible to hold and record monthly fire drills.
- Be responsible for recording donations as they come in and seeing to their proper use.
- Be responsible to greet volunteers/intakes/visitors when they come to the home.
- In conjunction with other staff, participate in formulating and following up on each woman’s Resident Care Plan and provide weekly updates regarding her progress.
- Document responsible use of the Petty Cash account.
- Assist each resident in walking through her pregnancy. Help determine when it is necessary to go to the doctor, emergency room, etc.
- Assist each resident in caring for her child. Help in developing a plan with each resident if there are problem areas in her parenting.
- Supervise volunteers working in the home.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
