Tapestry Unitarian Universalist Congregation Seeks a Choir Director

Tapestry UU Congregation, located in Lake Forest, California, is seeking a choir director to support the music ministry of our congregation of 150 members. This is a 9-month position with an average of 5 hours per week commitment. Graduate students, alumni, and undergraduate music majors in their final year are encouraged to apply.

The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings and sings twice per month during the 10:30 a.m. service. Responsibilities include directing the choir, assisting in worship music planning, and engaging the congregation through music. The Choir Director will work closely with the Music Director to create meaningful, inclusive, and musically rich experiences that align with UU values—diversity, justice, compassion, and spiritual exploration. This contract position provides practical conducting experience within a supportive and collaborative volunteer choir environment. A volunteer Music Committee helps support the music program as well.

Reports To: Music Director and Minister

Time Commitment: average of 5 hours per week

Duration: approximately 9 months, start date September 2026

Compensation: Up to $5000.00 for approximately 9 months
