    The salary range for this position starts at $80,000, and NJ LEEP offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees.

    Title & Position Summary

    The Legal Education Manager is responsible for all aspects of NJ LEEP’s Legal Education Program, including Constitutional Law Debates, Summer Law Institute, and the Attorney Mentor program. This position includes direct student engagement and classroom instruction, as well as oversight of other legal educators and program implementation and administration.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee all Legal Education programming, including serving as the lead instructor for the after-school Constitutional Law Debate class for high school students. Refine and implement existing instructional content for the Constitutional Law Debate program. Review and provide feedback on all student work – briefs, oral arguments, homework assignments, etc. – for the Legal Education Program.
    • Administer all aspects of the Summer Law Institute, including hiring, training, and supervising the Summer Law Fellow and Summer Law Teaching Assistant. Provide in-class support and teach legal concepts as appropriate. Coordinate with Operations and/or Development teams to plan and implement Summer Law Institute field trips.
    • Supervise the Program Coordinator, who will support with all aspects of Legal Education programming at NJ LEEP, including leading select lessons for Constitutional Law Debate and Summer Law Institute.
    • With the Events and Volunteer Coordinator, plan and implement Legal Education program events, including summer Mock Trial competitions and school-year Constitutional Law Debates.
    • Oversee the implementation of the Attorney Mentor program, including mentor recruitment and onboarding, facilitation of relationships between mentors and students, and coordination of in-person mentor events.
    • Create and maintain a positive and energetic culture surrounding legal education among the NJ LEEP community. Actively build positive, supportive relationships with NJ LEEP students, especially those enrolled in Legal Education programs. Communicate with students’ families as appropriate and necessary.

    Minimum Experience and Qualifications

    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
      • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and expertly prioritize
      • Strong attention to detail and organizational excellence and the willingness to take initiative in order to drive results

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    • Teaching or tutoring experience
    • Experience in program management, especially education program management
