    9to5 Action Fund seeks an experienced Organizer and Researcher based in Colorado (seven district counties in Denver, including Boulder, Arapahoe, and Adams counties). This organizer will be responsible for organizing in Boulder, Arapahoe, and Adams counties to mobilize voters impacted by housing, climate, and worker rights as part of 9to5 Action Fund’s broader objective of advocating for gender, racial, and economic justice.

    We’re looking for an emerging leader in the seven Denver-Metro district counties who is passionate about fostering relationships with elected officials to build 9to5 champions in the legislative arena, lessening the burden for renters and workers and for women and non-binary people of color and their families. Ideal candidates are from and/or reside in the Denver-Metro region, have experience working with underserved communities, and are looking to build careers in social justice, renters’ and workers’ rights, climate justice, and similar fields.

    This position will also lead and deepen relations with our C4 coalition table partners, research and train staff on the political landscape in the three primary counties 9to5 CO is focused on, and coordinate and conduct outreach programs for municipal elections and GOTV programs by connecting the need for social justice with civic engagement.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Membership Recruitment/Development:

    • Coordinate and conduct outreach programs designed to reach residents affected by energy efficiency, budgets, and taxation. This outreach will involve door-to-door canvassing, phone calls, emails, and attending community events.
    • Recruit and engage members, conduct trainings that identify and develop member leaders, and ensure consistent turnout and active participation of members in campaign activities
    • Support and facilitate regular 9to5 Action Fund membership meetings, training sessions, neighborhood meetings, and other general membership events.
    • Provide support for county municipal races and any campaigns members are pursuing.
    • Input data about events, new contacts, and member engagement regularly into our system.

    • Strategically weave base building into all chapter activities, campaigns, and events.
    • Work with colleagues to maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
    • Nurture relationships with partners and members.

    Campaign Support/Development:

    • Research policy issues related to utility, workers, and renters' bills at the municipal, county, and state levels of government.
    • Provide support, drafts, and presentations related to campaign work.
    • Provide guidance on fact sheets and other communications tools related to members' engagement and education.
    • Build relationships with the coalition and tables focused on organizational priority issues.
    • Research and train staff on the political landscape in the three primary counties for Adams, Boulder, and Arapahoe counties
    • Foster relations with elected officials to build 9to5 Action Fund champions in the political arena.

    Grassroots Fundraising:

    • Coordinate or support grassroots fundraising events.

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated commitment to environmental justice, environmental health, and/or social, racial, and economic justice.
    • At least two years of organizing experience with a community, labor, or women’s organization is preferred.
    • Good planning skills, time management, ability to work independently, ability to prioritize work, and ability to account for results.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience with issue-based policy campaigns.
    • Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish, but not required.
    • Available to work evenings and weekends, depending on campaign needs.
    • Strong database management skills preferred.
    • Ability to use and access Zoom, Google Drive applications, and database programs.
    • Must have quality internet and phone access on a daily basis.
    • Comfort taking initiative and ability to think outside the box to find solutions and resources.
    • Experience coordinating projects with multiple partners/stakeholders, and experience working directly with community members from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the ability to meet multiple deadlines. Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, GoodDrive, Zoom, Google Slides, and various social media platforms.
    • Access to a vehicle, driving, and/or reliable transportation to meetings, events, and other in-person requirements are required as this position is hybrid.

    Details:

    This is a one-year grant-based fellowship position with an annual base salary of $59,550.80. Excellent health and family benefits are provided. 9to5 Action Fund is an equal opportunity employer.
