    OVERVIEW: Founded in 2004, College Visions (CV) is one of Rhode Island’s leading college access and success organizations. Each year, CV supports over 500 first-generation students to pursue their dream of earning a college degree. CV Scholars receive individualized guidance from the college application process through college graduation.     POSITION SUMMARY: The College Success Program (CSP) was established in 2009 and supports CV students from college enrollment through graduation, with a focus on persistence, transfer, and re-enrollment. The College Success Program Advisor manages a cohort of students and provides individualized coaching, mentorship, and accountability. Through scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and campus visits, the advisor helps students navigate academic, financial, and personal challenges while preparing for post-graduation success – developing skills needed to thrive in college and beyond. This role requires strong relationship-building, consistent follow-up, the ability to tailor advising to each student, and regular travel to college campuses to meet with students. The CSP Advisor also works collaboratively with the College Access Program Team to ensure a smooth transition from high school to college.

    MANAGEMENT: The College Success Advisor reports to the Director of Programs.

    HOURS: This is a full-time, hybrid position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m., with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Occasional evening and weekend events are required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Student Advising and Outreach

    • Manage a cohort of students and provide consistent, individualized coaching that addresses academics, financial aid, campus engagement, transfer pathways, and career readiness, including practicing habits for academic success, connecting with on-campus resources, maintaining financial aid, troubleshooting challenges, and goal-setting for
    • Conduct regular meetings in-person and virtual meetings, including travel to college campuses, and maintain proactive outreach to build strong, trusting relationships that support persistence and degree completion
    • Identify challenges early and intervene with targeted, timely support
    • Connect students to campus resources and hold them accountable for follow-through
    • Stay informed about college policies, resources, and trends to effectively support students across institutions
    • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and use data to guide outreach

    Events and Program Development

    • Collaborate with the College Access Program Team to ensure alignment between high school and college success programming, including supporting CAP-to-CSP transition events and attending CAP events to build early relationships with students
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of student resources that support college success and postsecondary planning, as well as the CSP newsletter
    • Support relationship-building efforts with college and university partners by representing CV during on-campus visits
    • Assist with other events as needed

    Professional Growth and other activities

    • Participate in ongoing training related to college success and pursue relevant professional development opportunities
    • Engage in reflective practice to continuously improve performance, learning from challenges, and building on success
    • Support CV programs and organizational initiatives, including events, staff training, program evaluation, student recruitment, and community events as needed
    • Contribute to strategic initiatives and fundraising activities that advance organizational goals
    • Represent and promote College Visions within Rhode Island and the college access and success sector
    • Complete administrative responsibilities, including maintenance of records, adherence to financial and HR policies, and general office operations

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • Demonstrated commitment to College Visions’ mission and values
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
    • Experience as a first-generation and/or low-income college graduate or experience advising, coaching, or mentoring first-gen students
    • Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
    • Collaborative, energetic, positive, and flexible

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The salary for this position is $45,000. CV offers generous paid time off, a hybrid work schedule, comprehensive benefits (medical/dental/vision), and a retirement match.
