    Camp Atlas OVERVIEW

Camp Atlas is an overnight summer camp and leadership development program for Bay Area youth in grades 5–8 who have experienced foster care. Located in San Gregorio, California, Camp Atlas empowers young people to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover their potential through a unique blend of academic enrichment, outdoor adventure, and community building.

Throughout the week, campers engage in hands-on math and literacy activities, explore local beaches and farms, participate in team-building experiences, and create lasting connections with peers and mentors. Campers also learn how to navigate the foster care system, understand their rights, identify trusted adults, and advocate for themselves when seeking support and resources.

By combining the transformative experience of overnight camp with learning, mentorship, and foster youth empowerment, Camp Atlas helps young people strengthen their sense of belonging, grow as leaders, and develop the skills needed to thrive in school, their communities, and beyond.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

Bunk Counselors are the primary supervisors and mentors for their campers—playing a significant role in meeting important community and identity outcomes for campers. Counselors live in cabins with campers or with other counselors and support individual campers’ growth as well as the group dynamics by participating in all-camp programming together, eating meals with campers, and creating bunk programming. Counselors will also play a support role in academic instruction as teaching assistants. Counselors will report to Head Counselors and work in collaboration with many other staff members.
