The Collaborative for Jewish Organizing is a project of Jews United for Justice (JUFJ). The Collaborative generates resources for and strengthens the capacity of nine organizations, including JUFJ, that are engaged in domestically-focused organizing for economic and racial justice across 16 states and DC. Project Coordinator Role
The Collaborative seeks a part-time professional to provide programmatic, logistical, and administrative support to the Collaborative, working as part of a small team and reporting to the Director of the Collaborative for Jewish Organizing. Main areas of responsibility include a coordination role related to the Collaborative’s fundraising and administrative work and five communities of practice. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable using and learning an array of digital platforms, a flexible thinker, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This is a 20-25 hour per week part-time non-exempt staff position, or a consulting role.
Job Responsibilities
- Fundraising, Operations, and Administration
- Coordinate and support the Collaborative’s operations, including fundraising, subgrant processes, maintaining current records about member organizations and their impact, document management, and meeting scheduling and coordination (both in-person and online).
- Organize and track information about member work and impact.
- Design and lay out fundraising documents.
- Maintain and update the Collaborative website.
- Support the Team
- Support the Collaborative’s staff team and interface with JUFJ staff and staff of member organizations.
- Coordinate the development and standardization of internal systems and processes across the Collaborative team, as needed and appropriate.
- Scheduling, logistics and administrative support
- Schedule meetings and events as needed
- Provide logistical support for team meetings/retreats
- Support communication and effective coordination across the Collaborative
- Program and Network
- Assist the Director and Program Manager in organizing and supporting programs connected to multiple Communities of Practice.
- Assist the Director and Program Manager in convening and providing content to several peer learning groups for staff across the Collaborative’s member organizations by practice area (including organizers, development professionals, and communications staff) who meet monthly or every other month to share knowledge and build relationships across the network.
- Support these groups by scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, facilitating or co-facilitating sessions, sending follow-up communications, and curating and sharing resources between meetings.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Operations and Administrative Skills: At least two years experience with operations and administration. Preference for fluency with various software applications and/or ability to learn them quickly. Those in use currently include G-Suite, Canva, EveryAction, Asana, Squarespace, Slack.
- Project Management: Ability to coordinate multiple projects, consult with stakeholders, anticipate obstacles, coordinate staff and internal resources, and keep a cool head while doing it.
- Collaboration Skills: Track record of developing and maintaining trusting relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders;
- Communication Skills: Clear, professional writing and strong verbal communication. Ability to grasp and communicate understanding of diverse viewpoints, and adapt communications to relevant audiences.
- Flexible Thinker: Able to adapt when priorities shift, apply creative problem-solving to novel challenges, and adjust your approach when a situation calls for it.
- Professionalism: Be reliable, a self-starter who takes initiative. Accustomed to holding yourself accountable for words and actions. Willingness to work occasional irregular hours, e.g. coordinating occasional rapid response support, or evening meeting time at an in-person retreat or gathering.
- Commitment to the Mission: Actively demonstrate a commitment to integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission.
- Anti-oppression and equity orientation: Anti-oppression orientation and commitments, including to fighting antisemitism and white supremacy.
- Familiarity with community organizing, issues related to economic, social and racial justice, and/or Jewish communities are a plus.
