We are looking for a part-time Salesforce Database Administrator & Technology Manager to join our team! We want to work with a collaborative, customer service-oriented, and motivated individual who is eager to manage all aspects of Humanities Washington’s database activities and impact reporting, with other occasional IT duties.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong and supportive relationships with staff, including understanding their unique business processes and database needs.
- Provide oversight and support of Humanities Washington’s Salesforce database.
- Maintain Salesforce database integrity, including updating and cleansing the complete database on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure data security by staying current on data security practices and ensuring users have appropriate permissions levels.
- Design, create, generate, and update customized database reports and dashboards across the organization and train staff on system operations.
- Provide staff technical support, including logging and tracking identified system problems through resolution. Set up and train new users.
- Remain current on Salesforce features and functionality, including researching, evaluating, recommending, and implementing database improvement projects on an ongoing basis.
- Create and maintain documentation on Salesforce processes, policies, application configuration, and help-related materials.
- Identify cost- and time-saving plug-in tools that will help Humanities Washington accomplish its goals of generating additional earned and privately raised income.
- Lead program evaluation and data collection practices to ensure positive movement toward strategic goals.
- Manage Humanities Washington’s annual National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) compliance and reporting work using data stored in Salesforce.
- Continuously improve the quality of Humanities Washington’s data collection practices and measurement of progress towards strategic goals.
- Participate in cross-sector, aggregated efforts to improve impact measurement and reporting at the national and state level.
- Additionally, in partnership with the CFO, this position will have the opportunity to oversee the organization’s full IT infrastructure.
- Act as the first IT point-of-contact for staff.
- Manage the relationship with Humanities Washington’s external IT services/support provider.
- Collaborate with the external IT services/support provider on organizational IT strategy and planning.
- Participate in creating an inclusive environment for staff and partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Relationships (in addition to staff ‘clients’):
- Primary liaison to Salesforce, Inc., the Salesforce community, and outside database technology consultants and vendors.
- Primary liaison to the Federation of State Humanities Councils (FSHC) data collection committee.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and behavioral competencies:
- Active Salesforce Administrator Certification (Salesforce Advanced Administrator preferred).
- Proficiency in declarative point-and-click customization (flows, custom fields, page layouts, Lightning record pages).
- Strong business analysis and communication skills to translate organizational needs into technical solutions.
- Technical skills to:
- Manage Salesforce profiles, roles, permission sets, and maintain high-quality data through importing, exporting, and deduplication (familiarity with Apsona is helpful).
- Automate processes, including building flows and validation rules.
- Build custom reports and dashboards, and track KPIs for different business units.
- Manage sharing rules, session security, and access controls.
- Create and manage online forms (familiarity with FormAssembly is helpful).
- Business analysis skills to ascertain stakeholder requirements and align Salesforce capabilities with organizational goals.
- Ability to solve problems and a structured mindset for troubleshooting system errors and designing scalable, user-friendly solutions.
- Experience managing release schedules, executing testing cycles, and handling change management during feature rollouts.
- Familiarity and enthusiasm for the humanities, understanding their important role in the cultural sector and communities.
- Sensitivity to different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs.
Work Structure:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position, working 20 hours per week, with a salary range of $30,000 – $40,000. A specific salary offer will be dependent on experience.
Hiring Process:
We aim to conduct our first review of applications in early August and then assess applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The hiring process will include interviews with Humanities Washington staff members and a reference check.
