    Empower Youth Network

    Substance-Use Prevention Coordinator

    Part-Time | $24-$28/hour DOE | 20 hours per week

    Location: Riverview School District and Snoqualmie Valley School District areas (Main office in Carnation, WA)

    Empower Youth Network’s mission is to inspire and support youth to lead safe, healthy, and successful lives.

    We are dedicated to creating programs that reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion while addressing the needs of our local youth. We seek a Substance-Use Prevention Coordinator to join our team and lead positive community campaigns aimed at reducing youth substance use and normalizing help-seeking behaviors. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for creating supportive, trauma-informed, and impactful youth programming.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Development & Implementation (70%)

    • Lead the revision, implementation, and evaluation of three existing positive message campaigns: #BeSmartDontStart, #YourLifeYourChoice, and #ItsUpToYou: Engage, Listen, Connect, and #NeedingHelpIsHuman.
    • Develop and implement a new, community-wide campaign to normalize seeking help, ensuring materials are created in both English and Spanish.
    • Collaborate with schools in the Riverview and Snoqualmie Valley School Districts to sustain and expand positive message campaigns.
    • Maintain knowledge of prevention science and the Positive Community Norms model to guide campaign strategies.
    • Attend relevant educational and networking opportunities to support professional growth and program improvement.

    Community Engagement & Outreach (15%)

    • Build and maintain relationships with school administrators, staff, PTSA leaders, and community organizations to promote and expand prevention efforts.
    • Represent Empower Youth Network at school and community events to advocate for youth prevention programs.
    • Use social media, newsletters, and other communication platforms to share positive campaign messages and engage the community.

    Administrative & Reporting (15%)

    • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports to the Program Director to meet grant requirements.
    • Support program evaluation efforts, including data collection and analysis, to improve campaign effectiveness.
    • Contribute to grant application and reporting efforts by providing program-specific data and narratives.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing for public campaigns, print, and social media.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including school staff, community partners, and volunteers.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management concepts.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to create inclusive, trauma-informed programming.
    • Self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, including collaboration, empathy, humor, and flexibility.

    Preferred Skills & Experience

    • Familiarity with prevention science, the Positive Community Norms model, and trauma-informed practices.
    • Experience working in educational or community-based settings.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.

    Additional Requirements

    • Availability to attend occasional meetings, events, or functions outside of normal business hours.
    • Willingness to travel to trainings related to program improvement, as needed.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Pay Range: $24-$28/hour DOE
    • Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with most work occurring during school hours (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).
