North County Outpatient School-Based Services (NCOSBS)

A Program of New Alternatives, Inc.

North County Outpatient School-Based Services (NCOSBS) operates a certified outpatient behavioral health program providing a full range of Title 9 diagnostic and treatment services for children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 18). We partner with the County of San Diego and the San Marcos Unified School District to deliver high-quality, accessible mental health services to youth across North County.

Our mission is to provide school-based and community-based therapy for students who are uninsured, low-income, or have full-scope Medi-Cal and behavioral health needs. The children we serve may present with significant behavioral and emotional challenges, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, suicidal or homicidal ideation, substance use, and/or elopement behaviors. Many of our youth have extensive trauma histories, limited access to resources, and may experience organic or complex mental health diagnoses. Our team works collaboratively to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive support to help children and youth stabilize, grow, and succeed in their school and community environments. We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and flexible clinician who values collaboration, trauma-informed care and professional growth.

We offer a broad spectrum of behavioral health services for youth and families, including:

    • Screening and assessment

    • Complete comprehensive intake assessments, including mental health, physical health, trauma history, and substance use screening.
    • Ability to conceptualize a client from a wide lens, taking into consideration trauma, early childhood experiences, culture, family dynamics, physical health, social functioning, intellectual ability and other domains that contribute to the client's current presentation.
    • Support families in developing crisis and safety plans.
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete case records and documentation.
    • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with school staff, clients, families, and team members.
