About the organisation and the role
Social Tech Ventures (STV) is an early-stage venture fund backing technology companies solving critical social and environmental challenges across health and wellbeing, financial resilience, and climate and environment. Many companies addressing these challenges do not fit traditional venture capital models. STV provides aligned capital through a revenue-first investment strategy and flexible equity structures designed for companies building through revenue traction, capital efficiency and different routes to scale.
Following first close, STV is deploying capital while continuing to raise further commitments. We are now looking for a delivery-focused Investment Associate to manage and deliver defined workstreams that are core to running a disciplined early-stage fund.
This is a hands-on Associate role in an active, revenue-first fund. It offers the opportunity to work across the practical engine of venture investing: assessing companies, preparing diligence materials, managing portfolio and investor reporting, maintaining fund records, supporting LP communications and keeping key workstreams moving.
Key responsibilities
The Investment Associate will be responsible for delivering defined workstreams to a consistently high standard across the following areas.
Pipeline management and CRM
- Manage inbound deal flow and maintain an accurate, up-to-date CRM.
- Prepare short screening notes on prospective investments, assessing fit with STV’s investment strategy.
- Prepare pipeline status reporting for the Managing Partner, showing current opportunities, recommended next actions and follow-up requirements.
- Ensure founders receive timely, professional and consistent communication throughout the investment process.
Due diligence, financial modelling and Investment Committee materials
- Carry out commercial and financial due diligence on prospective investments, assessing the opportunity, business model, financial position, outcomes potential and key risks.
- Support legal due diligence by coordinating documents, adviser input, founder follow-ups and tracking follow-up actions.
- Build and review financial models, cap tables and related analysis to support investment assessment, structuring, downside analysis and portfolio monitoring.
- Prepare clear Investment Committee materials, including evidence-based analysis, risk assessment, key questions and proposed next steps.
- Support assessment of flexible equity and revenue-linked investment terms, including revenue participation, conversion rights, follow-on requirements and expected return pathways.
Portfolio and LP reporting
- Manage venture reporting processes for financial, commercial and outcomes data, including use of Fundrbird and other fund systems.
- Work with portfolio companies to ensure reporting information is received on time, in the required format, and reviewed for completeness.
- Maintain clear, accurate and consistent portfolio records across Fundrbird and other relevant systems.
- Prepare portfolio monitoring summaries, LP reporting inputs and investor reporting materials.
- Support reporting processes aligned with the LPA, side letters, grant agreements, regulatory and compliance reporting requirements, and LP information needs.
Fund operations, compliance and records
- Maintain clear and accurate fund records, trackers, process documents, investment files and decision records.
- Maintain governance, Investment Committee, portfolio, investor, legal and compliance materials so they are complete, organised and easy to retrieve.
- Carry out fund operations and investment-related work in a compliant way, including maintaining accurate records, protecting confidential information and escalating issues where required.
- Ensure personal data, founder information, investor information and diligence materials are handled securely and in line with STV’s policies and data protection requirements.
- Support fund administration processes, including investor onboarding, capital call coordination, investor information requests and maintaining accurate investor records.
- Manage the fund obligations calendar and related actions, ensuring reporting deadlines, compliance actions, adviser follow-ups and outstanding points are visible and progressed.
Data room, investor materials and LP due diligence
- Maintain and update the fund data room, ensuring key fund, portfolio, pipeline and reporting materials are accurate and well organised.
- Prepare information and analysis to support LP due diligence, including responses to investor questions and requests for data.
- Support preparation of investor briefing materials, fund summaries, pipeline updates, portfolio evidence and meeting follow-up materials.
- Ensure LP-facing materials are accurate, consistent and aligned with the fund strategy, LPA, portfolio construction and reporting obligations.
- Track LP diligence requests and ensure responses are completed and properly filed.
As part of a lean fund, the Investment Associate may also take on other reasonable responsibilities needed to support the effective delivery of STV’s investment activity.
About you
We are looking for someone who is motivated by STV’s purpose and excited by the opportunity to contribute to a high-quality, revenue-first venture fund backing technology companies addressing critical social and environmental challenges.
This opportunity is suited to someone who is excited by the prospect of joining a new fund as a key team member, working in an Associate role across a broad range of responsibilities. You will need to be highly capable, delivery-focused and comfortable working across financial modelling, reporting, process management and investment materials. You should be able to manage competing priorities, work carefully at pace and produce clear, accurate outputs that can be used with confidence.
This is a hands-on Associate role in a lean, focused fund with a clear investment strategy and strong sense of direction. It will suit someone who is flexible, solutions-focused and motivated by delivering work that directly supports investment, reporting and fund management priorities. It requires someone who works collaboratively, listens well, communicates clearly, asks good questions and remains open to learning. It will not suit someone looking for a senior strategy role, a mainly external-facing profile, or a loosely defined venture role without clear accountability for delivery.
Essential experience and skills
This role would suit someone with at least 3 years’ relevant experience in investment analysis, venture capital, corporate finance, impact investment, fund operations or another analytical and delivery-focused role.
- Excellent financial modelling and Excel skills, with the ability to accurately analyse early-stage company financials, business models and key assumptions.
- Proven experience conducting or supporting commercial, financial or investment due diligence.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and well-structured written materials to a high standard, such as investment papers, diligence notes, reports and briefings.
- Highly capable at managing processes, records and reporting workflows so that information is accurate, up to date and easy to use.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment, keeping work structured, actions visible and deadlines on track.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess companies, markets, risks, financial information and supporting evidence in a structured way.
- Excellent attention to detail, including the ability to spot inconsistencies, question assumptions, identify gaps and maintain accurate information across systems and documents.
- Careful and proactive handling of confidential information, with the ability to work in line with compliance, data protection and record-keeping requirements.
- Interest in the role technology can play in addressing critical social and environmental challenges.
Desirable experience and skills
- Experience working with early-stage technology companies, venture capital, seed investing or impact investment.
- Understanding of flexible or revenue-linked investment structures.
- Experience with portfolio monitoring, LP reporting, investor due diligence or fund reporting processes.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, data rooms, Fundrbird or other fund administration / investor reporting tools.
Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, socio-economic background, sexual orientation or age.
