Context
As the leading workforce development agency in Greater Boston, JVS offers a range of programs that include rapid employment, sector-specific pipelines, and goal-based coaching. JVS provides short-term training and job placement to meet clients’ immediate needs in addition to opportunities for advancement over time to quality jobs and long-term economic mobility.
In recent years, JVS has launched several training programs that serve as a point of entry to well-paying jobs in the life sciences sector for candidates without college degrees to build the knowledge and skills for successful entry to the sector. JVS is seeking to rapidly expand Bio-MAP, an 8-week skills training “bootcamp” for entry level manufacturing roles in partnership with Northeastern University and Quincy College, with support from the Mass Life Sciences Center.
Consultant Objectives
JVS would like to engage a consultant to support its business development efforts over a 6-month period between April-October 2025 with three objectives:
Working Arrangements
The consultant must have deep experience and relationships in the life sciences sector in Eastern Massachusetts, including connections with senior strategic hiring decision-makers (C-suite or business unit heads), and a good understanding of the landscape overall.
The consultant will be engaged at 50% time over 6 months with professional fees in the range of $65-80,000, commensurate with experience. JVS will provide additional compensation of $5,000 per cohort of 12 hires committed through the introductions facilitated, up to 5 cohorts (60 hires).
The consultant will report to Sher Omerovic, Chief Program Officer, for strategic coordination and oversight, and work in partnership with Mandy Townsend, SVP Employer Engagement, and her team who will lead business development for JVS.
