    Descrição

Are you passionate about expanding opportunity and building partnerships across North Carolina?

    The position:

Code the Dream (CTD), a growing national nonprofit, is hiring a full-time NC Outreach and Partnerships Lead to help expand awareness of CTD’s programs and strengthen our partnerships across the state.

    About us:

Code the Dream is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on expanding opportunities in tech for people from low-income backgrounds and those who have faced barriers. We offer a suite of free tech education classes – from Intro to Programming, React.js, Node.js/Express, to Python. After 8 - 12 months of intensive training with Code the Dream’s online curriculum and mentors, new coders can apply to join CTD Labs, where they gain invaluable real-world experience as full-time software development apprentices.

In this position, you will play a key role in expanding strategic outreach and organizational partnerships to grow the pipeline of North Carolina applicants for Code the Dream’s classes and apprenticeships. You’ll work to eliminate barriers and create accessible career pathways -- particularly for low-income and underserved communities -- by building strong, mission-aligned relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, and employers across the state.

    In this role, you will:

    • Develop and nurture relationships with community colleges across North Carolina, both individually and through statewide initiatives, to create pathways for students to transition into Code the Dream programs.
      • Establish, cultivate, and grow relationships with student organizations and individual instructors, including at institutions that are currently or have previously been sources of CTD students.
      • Build relationships with individual community colleges, including exploring college credit for completion of CTD classes.
      • Support CTD efforts to build system-wide relationships that could result in collaborative partnership on a statewide basis.
    • Explore strategic partnerships with NC high schools and/or organizations serving high schools students to position Code the Dream as a viable alternative to traditional four-year university programs, particularly for students who face barriers to university admission or lack of financial support.
    • Plan and implement comprehensive direct outreach strategies to spread awareness of Code the Dream throughout North Carolina, with particular focus on reaching low-income adults and underserved communities.
    • Identify and engage with mission-aligned community organizations, nonprofits, and social service agencies that serve low-income and underserved North Carolinians, including individuals from rural areas, those without bachelor's degrees, and those from communities underrepresented in the tech industry.
    • Coordinate and execute statewide outreach campaigns, including attending career fairs, community events, and educational conferences to promote Code the Dream's programs.
    • Partner with the national Outreach & Admissions Coordinator to ensure consistent messaging and processes while addressing North Carolina-specific needs and opportunities.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Deep understanding of North Carolina's educational landscape, including community college systems, high school programs, and workforce development initiatives. Experience with or knowledge of the NC community college system preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of the challenges faced by low-income individuals and those without US bachelor's degrees in accessing tech education and career opportunities in North Carolina.
    • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to connect with diverse stakeholders including educators, community leaders, employers, and students.
    • Proven track record in partnership development, community engagement, and outreach within North Carolina or similar regional contexts.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple partnerships and initiatives simultaneously.
    • Data-driven mindset with ability to track, analyze, and report on outreach effectiveness and partnership outcomes.
    • Innovative and entrepreneurial approach to identifying new partnership opportunities and outreach strategies.
    • Flexible and adaptable. Willingness to chip in where needed to help and support other teammates.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in community engagement, educational partnerships, or workforce development, preferably in North Carolina.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

It would be great if you also had… (No, we don’t expect you’ll have all / most of these!)

    • Experience with community college systems, tech education, coding bootcamps, or similar alternative education programs.
    • An established network of contacts within North Carolina's educational, nonprofit, or workforce development sectors.
    • Proficiency in data management with the ability to analyze and interpret data to guide decision-making.

    The logistics:

    • This is a remote position with periodic in-state travel, up to approximately 10% of the time (the exact amount may vary depending on the needs of the role). Most travel will be day trips within North Carolina with minimal overnights.
    • Must be based in North Carolina, ideally within commuting distance to the Triangle and/or Charlotte.
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
