    Northwest Girlchoir revolutionizes choral education by rejoicing in students’ voices and creativity through embodied music-making. Guided by our commitment to anti-racism, we inspire joy, belonging, and confidence, and cultivate community through shared experience. Our treble choirs welcome and affirm girls and all youth marginalized by gender.

    We seek an experienced, positive, and flexible fundraising leader to join our staff. The Development Manager’s primary focus is planning and carrying out fundraising events and campaigns, while supporting the Executive Director around major donor strategies. The ideal candidate has at least three years of demonstrated success raising money from individual and corporate donors and working independently within a collaborative team environment. We are looking for a compelling storyteller who shows initiative and finds creative ways to draw in new donors and increased giving.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Fundraising (35%)

    • Work with the Executive Director to develop plans to raise money in support of our mission and budget.
    • Engage parents, alums, donors, and audiences in fundraising campaigns throughout the choir year, including direct mail and email campaigns, our Counterpoint Fundraising Competition for current families, and other creative fundraisers.
    • Communicate positively and effectively through appeal letters and donor/alum newsletters, public speaking, and in meetings with committees and board volunteers.
    • Work with our Choir Administrator to use our Sumac CRM database for reports and prospect research.

    Events (35%)

    • Lead planning and logistics of annual Lifting Voices fundraising event (February 28. 2026), working with Executive Director and admin team to develop visioning, fundraising, and theming. Responsibilities include raffle, dessert dash, and raise the paddle.
    • Secure and grow corporate sponsorships for Lifting Voices, tuition assistance, and concerts.
    • Carry our annual community-building and stewardship activities to connect donors, parents, and alums to the organization; carry out these events and benefits, including pre-concert receptions and parent-family engagement events.

    Team/Committee Work (20%)

    • Attend monthly Development Committee meetings (board and parent volunteers); contribute to the agenda and conversation, and take notes.
    • Work with Alum Committee on alum engagement and communication, encouraging alums to stay in touch and participate in events and giving.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings (Thursday afternoons), focusing on communication and shared projects, and a weekly one-on-one with the Executive Director.
    • Work some evenings/weekends at concerts, rehearsals, events, and meetings.

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
      • 2 years fundraising experience, including experience planning fundraising events and securing sponsorships.
      • Demonstrated success in meeting fundraising goals
      • Passion for building and maintaining relationships with donors
      • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      • Both strategic thinking and attention to detail
      • Strong self-motivation, organization, and time management
      • Demonstrated ability to work with staff, board, and volunteers to accomplish fundraising objectives
      • Commitment to racial and gender equity, access, inclusion, and belonging
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM databases (currently Sumac)
      • A desire to know, appreciate, and champion our programs, mission, values, and community
      • Flexibility, enthusiasm, genuine interest in people, and a sense of humor!
