    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead Latinos En Spokane into its next era of impact. The Executive Director will guide strategic vision, strengthen organizational capacity, and foster meaningful partnerships across sectors. This leader will manage a talented team of 13 staff, oversee a $1.5-3 million annual budget, and serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.

    Reporting to the Board of Directors and in close collaboration with staff, and community members, the Executive Director will ensure the health, sustainability, and strategic growth of Latinos En Spokane This is a role for a values-driven leader who excels at the intersection of operations, movement-building, and community empowerment.

    Summary

    The Executive Director provides the overall vision, leadership, and strategic direction for Latinos en Spokane, ensuring the organization advances its mission of immigrant justice, community empowerment, and culturally responsive advocacy. This role leads the development and implementation of organizational priorities, policies, and long-term strategies that strengthen services and systems impacting immigrant and Latino communities.

    The Executive Director oversees all programs, operations, staff leadership, and financial management to ensure effective delivery of immigration advocacy initiatives, legal support services, and community-based programs. This position ensures strong governance, accountability, and organizational sustainability while aligning all efforts with community needs and equity-driven goals.

    The Executive Director also leads fundraising and resource development strategies, including cultivating relationships with philanthropic partners, funders, government agencies, and community partners to expand capacity and maximize impact. Additionally, the Executive Director establishes policies and procedures for grant review, approval, and compliance, ensuring the organization maintains integrity, transparency, and strong stewardship of resources in support of the communities served.     1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Culture
    • Provide overall vision, leadership, and strategic direction for Latinos en Spokane.
    • Lead the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment across mission, budget, staffing, and programs.
    • Guide organizational strategy.
    • Establish performance goals, key metrics, and KPIs to measure impact and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
    • Oversee agency-wide policies, objectives, and operational systems to ensure accountability and mission alignment.
    • Provide direct supervision to senior leadership and department managers; support staff development and team performance.
    • Lead hiring, training, evaluation, and disciplinary processes to maintain a strong, mission-driven workforce.
    • Foster a healthy, inclusive, and equitable workplace culture grounded in belonging, anti-racist practices, and organizational values.
    • Ensure high-quality program delivery by supporting evaluation, innovation, and continuous improvement across services.
    • Review and approve contracts and organizational agreements.
    • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.

    The Executive Director directly supervises the following departments and programs:

    • Poder Legal Department
    • Community Comadre Social Worker Program
    • Emprendete Small Business Center
    • El Mercadito Market
    • Ser y Crecer Youth Program
    • Bilingual Driver Academy
    • Operations and Finances
    1. Fundraising & Financial Sustainability
    • Develops policies designed to maximize agency funding and establishes goals.
    • Develops policies for the grant review and approval process.
    • Directly manages the planning and operation of the annual budget.
    • Ensures financial accountability, compliance, and long-term sustainability of the organization.
    1. Community Engagement & Advocacy
    • Serves as Latinos en Spokane’s primary contact to the media and board.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with organizations throughout the locality and state to strategically enhance the organization’s mission.
    • Builds and sustains relationships with philanthropists, funders, community partners, and government agencies.
    • Provides strategic guidance in Health and Public Safety, Immigration, and Cultural Visibility through policy initiatives with state, city, and community agencies.
    • Provides immigration policy advocacy to city, county, and state elected officials.
    • Oversees marketing and communications efforts to elevate visibility and advance advocacy goals.
    1. Board Engagement
    • Support board and committee meetings.
    • Meets monthly with the Board of Directors to keep them informed on the status, priorities, budget and budget changes, and needs of the agency.
    • Maintains strong governance practices and alignment between Board strategy and organizational execution.
    • Builds and sustains a collaborative working relationship with the Board of Directors.

    Who You Are

We are seeking a visionary, values-driven leader who is deeply committed to immigrant justice, community empowerment, and culturally rooted nonprofit leadership. You lead with integrity, courage, and accountability, and you know how to balance strategy with heart.

    You bring:

    • 8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit management, immigrant advocacy, public policy, or community-based organizations.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic plans and aligning operations, staffing, and budgets with long-term organizational goals.
    • Strong operational leadership experience, including oversight of HR, finance, compliance, contracts, and internal systems.
    • Proven ability to supervise and develop senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams across diverse programs.
    • Experience managing complex organizational budgets and ensuring financial sustainability.
    • A track record of fundraising success across grants, government funding, philanthropy, and community-based revenue streams.
    • Experience working effectively with nonprofit Boards of Directors and supporting strong governance practices.
    • Deep understanding of immigrant and Latino communities and the systems impacting them, including immigration policy, economic development, and public safety.
    • Strong public-facing leadership skills, including public speaking, media engagement, and serving as an organizational spokesperson.
    • Emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and a demonstrated commitment to building inclusive, anti-racist organizational cultures.
    • Fluency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

    Bonus if you have:

    • Experience leading immigration policy advocacy at the city, county, or state level.
    • Experience overseeing legal services, small business development programs, or community-based social service initiatives.
    • Familiarity with Washington State’s nonprofit, political, or philanthropic landscape.
    • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in public administration, law, nonprofit leadership, public policy, or related field — or equivalent lived and professional experience.

    The ideal candidate is a supportive and inspiring leader with the ability to motivate, coach, and mentor staff, collaborators, and community partners while fostering trust, accountability, and professional growth.

    This role also requires emotional resilience and the ability to lead with compassion in challenging environments. The Executive Director will regularly engage in conversations related to discrimination, domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, abandonment, and psychological trauma affecting immigrant families. Occasional work may take place in detention center settings or other high-stress advocacy environments.

    Working Conditions

    This is a full-time, in-person role based in Spokane, Washington. The Executive Director must be available for occasional evening/weekend events and local travel. Some regional/national travel may be required.
