    Who is Comunidad?

Comunidad is a Latino grassroots organization based on Vashon Island and South King County, with a presence in surrounding areas. Founded in 2009, Comunidad emerged from a collective desire to challenge systems that limit our potential. In 2015, we restructured to become a youth-centered organization, envisioning thriving Latino communities that embrace our culture, talents, and power to transform systems not designed for us. We actively seek those who haven’t been involved in mainstream ways, aiming to build a movement for community-led innovation and joy.

    Position Summary

The Finance & Evaluation Manager will play a central role in Comunidad’s financial infrastructure and accountability systems. This position combines traditional nonprofit financial management and grant oversight with a growing emphasis on tracking, analyzing, and learning from financial and programmatic data to support both compliance and strategic decision-making.

We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of precision and purpose—someone who can balance rigorous tracking with a curiosity about how resources flow, who benefits, and where we can be more strategic. This role supports our commitment to learning what works, for whom, and why.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management & Reporting

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, financial tracking, payroll, reimbursements , and payments to contractors
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal use and external stakeholders
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting and insurance requirements
    • Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
    • Build financial dashboards and visual tools to communicate key metrics to staff and leadership

    Grants Management & Evaluation

    • Oversee the full grant lifecycle—from budget development to reporting
    • Work with program staff to align budgets with program goals and track performance against grant deliverables
    • Develop grant-related financial reports and support narrative reporting with relevant financial and data insights
    • Monitor grant expenditures and flag trends or inconsistencies
    • Collaborate on funder evaluations or audits by ensuring high-quality financial data and tracking of outcome-related metrics

    Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Analysis

    • Assist in developing the organization’s annual and multi-year budgets
    • Lead forecasting efforts to inform scenario planning and strategic resource allocation
    • Provide budget coaching and training to program staff to build financial fluency across the organization
    • Track return-on-investment of key programs and initiatives, especially in relation to funder-supported activities

    Compliance & Audit Preparation

    • Ensure all financial activities comply with organizational policies and procedures
    • Maintain systems and documentation to support clean, timely audits
    • Update financial and evaluation policies and procedures to reflect organizational growth and funder expectations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, evaluation, or related field—or equivalent lived/professional experience
    • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit financial management or grants administration
    • Knowledge of nonprofit grant compliance and reporting
    • Experience using data and financial insights to inform programmatic decision-making
    • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); EveryAction and QuickBooks preferred
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required
