Bridges Baltimore Overview
Bridges Baltimore is a Baltimore-based non-profit organization committed to the long-term success of Baltimore City youth and to providing life-changing opportunities to independent school students. Bridges programs currently serve over 900 participants per year – 530 Baltimore City students ages 9-23 and 400 independent school students across four locations –with continued expansion plans over the coming decade.
The Opportunity
Bridges Baltimore is seeking a proactive, highly organized, and relationship oriented full-time Communications Manager for our non-profit organization. This role is built for a communications generalist and multimedia storyteller interested in bringing Bridges’ communications strategy to life through compelling written, visual, and digital content.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Leading communications projects, content development, and design for newsletters, website, social media, impact report, decks, and marketing materials.
- Coordinating the Bridges News Team to surface stories and gather content from across the organization, programs, and locations.
- Managing, monitoring, and enhancing Bridges’ content calendar, digital communications, brand, and multimedia assets.
- Maintaining Bridges’ brand, visual identity, templates, and communications platforms and tools, including Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud/InDesign, and photography/video equipment.
- Maintaining an organized, accessible archive of photography, video, design files, templates, and completed collateral.
- Capturing and editing high-quality photography and video at key programs, events, and activities for use across Bridges’ communications.
- Coordinating external vendors and freelancers, as needed, for photography, video, design, printing, and other production needs.
- Supporting the editing, design, and production of fundraising communications materials as requested.
The Ideal Candidate
- 5–8 years of professional communications experience, with demonstrated success managing projects and producing content across channels within an existing strategy.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a strong understanding of audience, and who can be consistent and create content that reaches diverse audiences effectively.
- Strong project-management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability and desire to collaborate effectively and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
- A proactive mindset, sound judgment, and the ability / willingness to recognize and act on strategic opportunities, develop ideas, seek feedback, and learn quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, who will build trust across a diverse set of relationships within our organization and community.
- Experience managing social media and digital content, with proficiency in or the ability to quickly learn tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud/InDesign, and photography/video equipment.
- Pays attention to changes in the communications landscape and thinks about ways to better reach constituents in an increasingly cluttered digital communications environment.
- Strong photography and videography skills, including experience capturing and editing engaging visual content.
- Experience in nonprofit, education, youth development, or other mission-driven communications preferred.
- Has reliable transportation.
Role Details
- Compensation: The salary for this full-time 12-month role is $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to participate in Bridges Baltimore’s comprehensive benefits program which includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, disability, 403(b) with employer matching; FSA options; paid vacation, sick, & holiday time; auxiliary insurance; meal benefit; etc.
- Start Date: This role will start in the Fall of 2026.
- Supervision: This role reports to the Senior Director of External Affairs.
- Location: The Communications Manager role is based at Bridges Baltimore’s central office (Baltimore, MD) and will come with some hybrid flexibility.
- Hours: This 40-hour-per-week role will typically follow traditional business hours. It may include occasional evenings and weekends.
