    About You

    You are a marketing and communication professional who is passionate about using your talents for good in this world. You have an excellent grasp on data-driven decision-making in marketing. You use that data to adjust the sails for content execution and influencing the tactics used to get the best possible results. You have strong attention to detail and the ability to ensure tasks are executed with precision.

    Your background may include an internship or some introductory experience working for a marketing or public relations agency, a nonprofit organization or higher education institution. You’re ready for a fast-paced organization that is dedicated to getting better outcomes for young people. You feel just as comfortable being a self-starter as a team player.

    You are committed to ensuring all children and families have every opportunity they need to succeed. To be successful in this role, you must be aware of the complex dynamics of our national educational landscape and the challenges that community members face on the path to achieving economic mobility.

    About the Position

    Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Specialist of Email Marketing is responsible for implementing marketing efforts to support strategic priorities, build brand loyalty and drive conversions among our target audiences. This includes developing and executing email marketing strategies, delivering email campaigns and workflows to diverse audiences. This also means being able to write and edit content for publishing and assessing performance data to inform strategic adjustments to ensure optimal performance. The Specialist, Email Marketing contributes to organization goals, collaborates cross-functionally to ensure we’re sending the right content to the right audience and tracks metrics to improve results.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    Email Marketing (65%)

    • Independently build and maintain advanced email automation workflows, exercising judgement and ownership in support of our digital marketing efforts to engage our target audiences, nurturing them from awareness to conversion and loyalty. This includes developing initial strategy for each workflow, exercising independent judgement while collaborating with cross-functional teams, writing optimized content, and optimizing send timing and workflow pacing.
    • Lead creation and scheduling of email newsletters and targeted email outreach to ensure audiences are receiving the right message at the right time.
    • Lead cross-functional coordination to source email content and determine timing, messaging and targeting for optimal performance among key audience segments.
    • Monitor and evaluate email performance, identifying potential issues and proactively implementing improvements based on performance data.
    • Stay up to date with the latest email trends and best practices. Elevate new features and strategies as they become available.

    Website (20%)

    • Create and refine landing pages to optimize lead generation efforts, ensuring optimization toward conversion and the functionality of email automation processes to capture leads and nurture them toward conversion.
    • Implement improvements based on performance data and user behavior to enhance effectiveness and drive audiences to action.

    Marketing Responsibilities (10%)

    • Provide assistance with social media and website overflow as needed, applying brand standards and messaging consistently.
    • Assist in collection and publication of content during team meetings, gatherings of the Cradle to Career Network or other large, high-traffic events.
    • Use project management tools (Asana) to project manage the email creation process and ensure marketing and communications team members have visibility to email calendar.

    Organizational Responsibilities (5%)

    • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
    • Participate in staff meetings, organizational trainings, cross-functional teams and interview processes.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and skills

    Required Qualifications:

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications/marketing, including some email marketing experience.
    • Demonstrated passion for StriveTogether mission and values exemplified through work experience, leadership opportunities or community involvement.
    • Experience using HubSpot or other email service providers (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a versatile writing style and a superior command of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate complex content into accessible, concise and logically organized communications for multiple audiences.
    • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, particularly in soliciting and incorporating critique and feedback from multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage deadlines independently, review work for accuracy and ensure high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and have great follow-through on projects.
    • Proven ability managing multiple projects and priorities.
    • Detail-oriented, flexible, highly responsive and organized work style.
    • Excellent time management, decision-making and problem-solving skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications, business or public relations
    • Experience developing and managing complex email automation campaigns.
    • Working knowledge of AP style, as well as ability to adhere to editorial style guidelines.
    • Experience with communication, marketing and list-building tools.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Location and Work Requirements

    1. Ability to effectively use remote work technology, including Slack, Zoom and other technology
    2. This role has the opportunity to be fully remote or based out of StriveTogether’s downtown Cincinnati headquarters.
    3. Cincinnati employees have a hybrid work schedule and come into the office three times per week, The dog-friendly office features company-paid parking, a rooftop deck, and snacks and beverages.
    4. Fully remote team members have access to DeskPass for community desk and meeting room options.
    5. Up to 20% travel required for fully remote staff.

    Compensation and Benefits

    This is an exempt role. The salary for this role is $62,000-$70,000. The salary range accounts for Cincinnati-similar geographic regions and may be adjusted based on the cost of labor of the geographic market.

    StriveTogether is committed to fair compensation practices. To ensure consistency, salaries are determined based on the readiness for the position, market competitiveness and fair pay structures across the team. As a result, StriveTogether does not engage in salary negotiations.

    • 15 days paid time off with an additional four personal days, eleven holidays and a five-day break at the end of the year. PTO increases to twenty days after five years and staff members can apply for sabbatical in their seventh year of employment.
