Position Summary:

The Manager of Volunteer Services plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaged volunteer community. This position is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers to ensure they are effectively utilized in support of our organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for community service, and the ability to develop training programs that enhance volunteer engagement and effectiveness.

In partnership with the House Manager, the Volunteer Manager coordinates the daily operations of the Ronald McDonald House of Boston Harbor.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive volunteer management strategies to attract, retain, and engage volunteers, including but not limited to Relief Managers, Meals with Love groups, and activities and current group volunteers.
• Oversee the recruitment process, including outreach efforts and screening of potential volunteers.
• Design and facilitate training programs that equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge.
• Supervise and provide support to volunteers, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
• Communicate all policies, procedures, and happenings at the House promptly to all volunteers to ensure the highest level of customer service and consistent operations of the House.
• Prioritize and assign daily and weekly tasks that need to be accomplished by volunteers.
• Assist the House Manager in overseeing 7 day a week coverage of the Boston Harbor House, including staffing, and guest stays.
• Promote House values, mission, and a supportive atmosphere for all staff, volunteers, and families following the HR manual, Operations Manual and the General Administrative Practices and Guidelines.
