    Position: Community Education & Outreach Manager

    Reports to: Sr. Director, Community Education & Outreach

    Position Status: Full-time, Exempt

    Location: Telecommute, [CA, HI, ID, OR, MO, WA]

    DESCRIPTION:

    The Parkinson’s Foundation (PF) makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community.

    As a vital member of the California and Pacific Northwest Chapters team, the Community Education and Outreach Manager plays a pivotal role in meeting the evolving needs of the Parkinson's community through collaborative partnerships and impactful outreach initiatives. Your primary responsibility is to spearhead the development and delivery of comprehensive education programs and resources tailored to the local Parkinson's community. By fostering strategic alliances with healthcare systems and other community stakeholders, you will ensure widespread awareness of the Foundation's events and resources. Your proactive engagement will not only support the local Parkinson's community but also contribute to advancing the Parkinson's Foundation's broader strategic objectives. The California and Pacific Northwest Chapters extends services across CA, HI, ID, OR, MO, WA offering a significant opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals affected by Parkinson's.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Community Education & Outreach – 90%

      • Work collaboratively with Chapter team members to build partnerships and support the organization’s strategic priorities through outreach, education, and development efforts.
      • Build, develop and maintain relationships among Parkinson’s constituency including people living with Parkinson’s disease, caregivers, health care professionals, volunteers and other stakeholder groups to advance community engagement goals.
      • Plan and execute in-person community education events including but not limited to securing speakers, logistics, event promotion, and post-event follow-up support.
      • Identify new opportunities and foster partnerships and collaborations with outside entities (e.g., senior centers, other nonprofit/healthcare organizations, Parkinson’s Foundation Centers of Excellence) to maximize impact and engagement.
      • Serve as liaison between the Foundation and local communities maintaining a presence through community outreach, community presentations, health/wellness fairs, public policy events, etc.
      • Expand reach to demographically or geographically underserved populations across multiple markets within the Chapter.
      • Develop and implement strategies to grow and maintain a network of volunteers within the Chapter to assist in reaching outreach goals and support local programs and events.
      • Create and oversee the Chapter Advisory Board’s Mission and Outreach Committee to bolster local outreach efforts and advance national initiatives. (include for Chapters with a local Advisory Board).
      • Foster mutually supportive relationships with national volunteers (Advisory Council, Research Advocates, Hospital Safety Ambassadors and Parkinson’s Ambassadors) within the Chapter.
      • Develop relationships with community grant recipients, promote grant funded programs, and complete site visits where necessary.
      • Manage Chapter communication channels including Chapter webpage, e-newsletter, social media and phone or email inquiries.
      • Manage the Chapter’s outreach budget and calendar for Chapter community-based education programs.

    Other – 10%

      • Submit a weekly progress report outlining meaningful progress on priorities.
      • Maintain up to date constituent and community partner data recording using Raiser’s Edge NXT database.
      • Actively seek opportunities to address community needs and positively impact local community while advancing the mission, goals and values.
      • Keep abreast of National Office activities and properly utilize the resources available. Attend all-staff meetings on camera unless otherwise approved.
      • Be knowledgeable about Parkinson’s disease and the Foundation’s strategic plan and operations.
      • Assure the proper use, management, security and upkeep of the equipment and documents.
      • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 4 years in community outreach or health education, preferably within a non-profit organization.
      • English/Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, database, and spreadsheet management; strong experience with webinars or online meeting platforms helpful.
      • Self-motivated, focused, detail and goal-oriented team member.
      • Possess and exhibit a professional, outgoing, friendly positive attitude and an ability to relate well with diverse populations and age groups.
      • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
      • Organized, timeline driven and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Excellent presentation skills and strong written communication abilities.
      • Communicate accurately and effectively.
      • Exceptional verbal communication and motivation skills.
      • Employ discretion, tact and empathy, proactive and intuitive people skills.
      • Accurate data entry skills.
      • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
      • Ability to travel throughout the Chapter and region as needed, with reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license.
      • Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with core business hours adherence.

    COMPENSATION: Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000.
