    Role: Consultant / Project Associate

    Type: Part-time | Remote | Flexible

    Project Duration: 7 months

Reporting To: Executive Director, Imaara Survivor Support Foundation

    Compensation: To be discussed

    About Imaara

Imaara Survivor Support Foundation, founded in 2023, is dedicated to preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and providing critical support to survivors through increasing access to healing and restorative resources rooted in empathy and education. Imaara works to empower bystanders to take action against violence in their communities through trauma-informed awareness of laws, policies, and consent frameworks.

Imaara's flagship initiative is the Imaara Resource App — a geo-location mobile platform that connects survivors across India to a rigorously vetted network of legal, medical, mental health, shelter, and other support services. Every provider on the platform is manually audited for professional credibility and a demonstrated trauma-informed approach, ensuring survivors can find safe, empathetic help in minutes rather than days.

To date, Imaara has provided one-on-one support to over 50 survivors and bystanders, and is now scaling this impact through technology.

    Role Overview

We are looking for a driven and empathetic Consultant / Senior Project Associate to support Imaara's programmatic and operational work during a critical phase of growth. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, a genuine interest in the development sector, and a deep commitment to working towards ending gender-based violence. You will work closely with the Managing Director on both coordination and implementation, in a flexible, fully remote capacity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify and map stakeholders within Chennai who work in the GBV and survivor support space — including NGOs, legal aid providers, mental health professionals, medical services, and community organisations
    • Build and nurture relationships with these stakeholders to explore collaboration and partnership opportunities with Imaara
    • Support the onboarding and vetting of resource providers for the Imaara Resource App
    • Facilitate communication and follow-up across internal and external teams
    • Maintain clear, organised documentation of stakeholder interactions, partnerships, and project progress
    • Engage and coordinate with partners, community groups, and survivor advocates with sensitivity and professionalism
    • Identify challenges specific to the Chennai GBV ecosystem and propose practical, ground-level solutions informed by the local context

    Qualifications & Skills

    Education

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Social Science discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or related fields) — preferred

    Experience & Skills

    • Prior experience in stakeholder engagement or stakeholder management
    • Strong networking ability — comfortable building and maintaining professional relationships
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Tamil and English
    • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently
    • Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centred approaches
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, confidentiality, and care

    What We Value

At Imaara, we believe that how we work is just as important as what we work on. We are looking for someone who leads with empathy, listens deeply, and understands that behind every task is a person's story. You don't need to have all the answers — but you do need to show up with curiosity, care, and a genuine commitment to the cause.
