    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Communications Associate will play a key support role on the Wild Earth Allies Communications

    team, assisting with digital content development, media management, analytics, print materials, and administrative tasks. This position will report to the Communications Director and work closely across departments to help elevate the organization’s visibility and reach.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Media and Content Management

    • Organize and maintain the media library in Dropbox, including incoming photo and video assets from international field teams.
    • Assist with content gathering, including identifying relevant press opportunities and news stories for social media.
    • Support content development across channels, with writing and editing responsibilities evolving over time under the direction of the Communications Director.

    Digital Engagement

    • Assist with the creation and scheduling social media content, with a focus on building a strong evergreen content bank.
    • Monitor all social media channels, flag engagement opportunities, and help ensure consistent posting.
    • Support the management of social media ad campaigns under the direction of the Communications Director, including Meta acquisition ads (working knowledge of Meta Ads Manager preferred).
    • Stay current on digital marketing trends and recommend new tools or strategies when relevant.
    • Apply SEO best practices to social media and web content.

    Website and Email Support

    • Assist with website maintenance, including routine content updates and plug-in checks.
    • Maintain Mailchimp audiences and perform monthly contact list cleaning, following established protocols.

    Print Communications

    • Support the Communications and Development teams in coordinating two major print mailings per year, including hands-on implementation and logistics.
    • Maintain inventory of branded communications materials (e.g., business cards) and place reorders as needed.

    Analytics and Reporting

    • Collect, analyze, and report on performance metrics from email campaigns, social media platforms, and the website, providing actionable insights to inform strategy.
    • Share clear, concise reports with the Communications Director and senior leadership on a regular basis.
    • Must be proficient in—or willing to undertake in-depth training on—Google Analytics.

    Project Coordination

    • Use Asana to set up and track communications projects in collaboration with other teams.
    • Help keep timelines and deliverables on track by monitoring progress and flagging potential delays.

    Administrative and Creative Support

    • Check and triage the organization’s general inbox daily.
    • Support the layout and basic design of branded collateral such as Allied Insights reports (experience with Adobe InDesign or willingness to learn required).
    • Assist in creating and maintaining branded PowerPoint and Word templates for use across the organization.
    • Provide general administrative and communications support to the Communications Director as needed.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    • 2+ years of experience in a communications, marketing, or digital content role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
    • Proficiency with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and content management systems. Working knowledge of Meta Ads Manager and Mailchimp preferred.
    • Skilled in—or willing to undertake in-depth training on—Google Analytics. Experience with Adobe InDesign or a strong willingness to learn required.
    • Understanding of digital marketing trends and SEO best practices.
    • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a collaborative approach.
    • Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
    • Highly organized and proactive with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently using tools like Asana.
    • Strong team player, tech-savvy, adaptable, and eager to learn.
    • Interest in global biodiversity conservation and supporting community-centered conservation programs.

    This role is ideal for someone looking to deepen their skills across a range of communications functions in a mission-driven environment.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS

    • Position: Full-time, Exempt
    • Location: Chevy Chase, MD office; hybrid position with 3+ days in the office per week.
    • Compensation: Excellent benefits and competitive salary commensurate with experience; range $70-74k.
    • Travel/schedule: Domestic and/or international travel, as needed. This position may require working outside of normal business hours to engage across time zones with staff and partners globally.
