    Department Description:

    The goal of TRP’s Immigrant Justice Department is to provide opportunities for authentic local

    immigrant leadership, to offer holistic community-based immigration legal services, and to work in coalitions to expand access to legal representation.

    General Job Description:

    The Removal Legal Services Manager is responsible for coordination and implementation of direct legal services and grant reporting for the Immigrant Justice Legal Clinic’s removal team. The Removal Legal Services Manager ensures that all staff and logistics are fully prepared to provide quality services to TRP clients. The Manager works with the Removal team to ensure accurate data collection and grant reporting through supporting the development of systems and processes for data integrity.

    Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    Removal Team Administrative Support

    • Manage removal docket for all detained and non-detained cases, including regularly checking EOIR for changes to hearing dates and ensuring filing deadlines are calendared.
    • Assist legal reps and paralegals in communications with family members to collect documents and information needed to support clients’ cases.
    • Serve as point person to coordinate with Immigrant Justice Office Manager, including identifying supplies or materials needed for removal team operations.
    • Lead in maintenance and organization of filing systems, ensuring files are properly labeled, stored securely, and digitized at the close of each case.
    • Work closely with the managing attorney for removal to develop systems that support

    increasing the team’s removal defense case capacity.

    • Serve as first point of contact for referrals and inquiries for removal defense support or representation both internal and external, including related to the Detained Loved One form.

    Data Management & Grant Compliance:

    • Assist Senior Manager in managing budget, evaluation methods, and reporting related to grants.
    • Monitor and ensure data accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance in updating the Midwest Immigrant Defenderes Alliance (MIDA) matters tracker and other collaborative data tracking sources.
    • Implement quality control measures and perform audits to ensure the reliability of data collection and strong case management practices.
    • Support Senior Manager in the design and maintenance of the clinic’s data collection tools, including Cerenade and Salesforce, and methodology.
    • Assist with completion of grant reports and other data requests.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Actively engage in understanding current immigration law and TRP’s office procedures relating to immigration case work.
    • Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies;
    • Maintain open and ongoing communication;
    • Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings; and
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with immigration legal services or immigrant advocacy groups;
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish required;
    • Ability to deal effectively and professionally in stressful situation and with a high volume of public and professional inquiries while exhibiting sound judgment and using discretion;
    • Demonstrated leadership in the legal services sector or immigrant rights organizations;
    • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with residents, local leaders, and all nonprofits to strengthen and advance multiple aspects of legal services programs;
    • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen well, convey thoughts clearly, speak in public, and work effectively as a member of a team;
    • Excellent analytical, writing, and organization skills with the ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet established timelines and goals;
    • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, relationship building, and collaborative planning;
    • Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively and to effectively interpret general policy, criteria, and procedures for specific situations as it relates to immigration legal services and/or removal defense;
    • Technical skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,Power Point, Outlook) and proficiency with data systems and government grant reporting, particularly Salesforce or other case management systems; and
    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social, faith, economic and racial/ethnic backgrounds.
    • Salary Range& Position Classification: Full-time, exempt; $65,000 - $75,000

    Special Working Conditions and Demands:

    • On-site work schedule: as needed, and no less than 3 days per week.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours; some early mornings, evenings, and weekends required.
    • This position may require travel within Chicago, throughout Illinois, and occasionally out of state, depending on program needs and organizational priorities.
