    POSITION

    EdAllies is seeking a candidate with strengths in program management and facilitation to serve as our Advocacy Programming Manager, overseeing and expanding EdAllies’ portfolio of trainings and advocacy workshops to strengthen the role of students, families, educators, and community partners in civic engagement and the education decisions that impact them directly. The Advocacy Programming Manager will develop and customize curriculum for EdAllies’ Community Allies advocacy trainings, market the program to schools and community partners, facilitate workshops, and build systems for tracking engagement and connecting participants to ongoing advocacy opportunities. The Advocacy Programming Manager will also oversee Community Action Teams, facilitating community cohorts on specific issues to develop actionable annual reports.

    This position reports to the Managing Director of Strategy & Operations and collaborates closely with other team members focused on outreach, communications, research, and policy. EdAllies is a hybrid work organization, with employees working 1-2 days in-person at our Minneapolis office and flexibility to work remotely at other times. This position will also spend significant time in schools and in the community hosting meetings, including some work on evenings and weekends. Occasional in-state travel may be required to meet with stakeholders in different communities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Building and executing strategic plan for Community Allies advocacy training programming in local schools and community settings;
    • Conducting outreach to partners and recruiting participants to expand reach of EdAllies’ programming;
    • Facilitating trainings and workshops to help stakeholders learn about the policy process, understand key education policy issues, and build advocacy skills;
    • Developing library of presentations and curriculum plans to support training and education efforts;
    • Managing logistics and event plans for workshops, engaging other team members as needed;
    • Building systems for tracking and maintaining engagement with program participants;
    • Identifying opportunities for growth and partnership;
    • Leading at least one topical Community Action Team per year;
    • Seeking out, building, and maintaining positive working relationships with partners across the education and community organizing landscapes, including schools and school leaders, educators, parents, community leaders, and fellow advocates;
    • Serving as a public-facing ambassador for the organization in meetings, with schools, and through other communication channels;
    • Collaborating closely with team members to advance EdAllies' mission and vision.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Candidates should possess a strong commitment to EdAllies’ mission, and to education equity more broadly. The ideal candidate has:

    • Demonstrated experience in program management, with the ability to organize process, logistics, and workflow;
    • Strong communication skills, including:
      • comfort with public speaking,
      • strong writing skills, with a focus on community-facing presentation materials, and,
      • the ability to break down complex policy issues for multiple audiences;
    • Experience organizing groups around advocacy goals;
    • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to seek and implement feedback from colleagues, and to support projects across the organization as needed;
    • Strong relationship-building skills with demonstrated experience working across line of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic background;
    • Commitment to principles of student-centered education, inclusiveness, and justice;
    • Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, and to work both independently and collaboratively;
    • Comfort developing and executing on new ideas;
    • Personal experience or connection that drives a passion for the work preferred;
    • 2+ years of experience in education, advocacy, organizing, or related field; and,
    • Commitment to operating with EdAllies’ core values of equity, inventiveness, humility, honesty, and courage.
    • Proficiency in Spanish, Hmong, or Somali a plus.

    COMPENSATION

    The position pays an annual salary of $56,000-$75,000, based on qualifications and experience. EdAllies also provides a robust benefits package which includes medical, dental, short- and long-term disability, life, and vision insurance premiums paid in full for employees and significantly subsidized for families; 401(k) matched up to 5% with immediate vesting; 21 days of annual PTO; 9 paid holidays plus a paid winter break and 2 floating days; flexible bereavement leave; parental leave with 8 weeks fully paid; school activities and student service release time; and more.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    Our team will review applications and schedule half-hour interviews with first-round candidates in early June. We will then select a smaller pool of finalists for more in-depth interviews. We may ask for position-related work samples and a list of references at this time. The selected candidate would ideally begin work in late July.
