    About Us

Anthos|Home is a nonprofit startup on a mission to create a new way home for New Yorkers with housing vouchers. We streamline the apartment search, approval, and move-in process using technology to move people into stable housing faster. By building strong partnerships, improving systems, and leveraging data, we work to remove barriers that keep people in shelter and help households move quickly into safe, stable housing.

    The Role

The Medicaid Finance Specialist is a part-time role working approximately 20 hours per week and reporting to the Finance and Administration Supervisor. This position manages Anthos|Home’s Medicaid billing and reimbursement operations within the Social Care Network (SCN) program funded through the New York State 1115 Medicaid Waiver.

The Specialist manages the full claims lifecycle from submission through reconciliation using platforms such as Unite Us (PHS) and FindHelp (Somos), which support health-related social needs referrals, documentation, and billing. This role combines financial operations, compliance oversight, and data management to ensure claims are submitted accurately, reimbursements are received on time, and leadership has clear visibility into Medicaid revenue supporting Anthos|Home programs.

This position is currently structured as a part-time role, with the potential to transition to full-time in 2027 as organizational needs evolve and additional finance or operational responsibilities are identified.

    Key Responsibilities

Ensure accurate, compliant Medicaid billing that supports the financial sustainability of Anthos|Home’s Social Care Network services.

    • Submit, track, and reconcile Medicaid claims under the 1115 Medicaid Waiver Social Care Network program, ensuring compliance with all relevant billing and documentation requirements.
    • Manage the full claims lifecycle, including monitoring claim status, resolving denials or rejections, and resubmitting corrected claims when necessary.
    • Use Unite Us (PHS) and FindHelp (Somos) as primary billing platforms and coordinate with platform partners to resolve billing issues.
    • Maintain current knowledge of SCN billing codes, reimbursement structures, and documentation requirements and flag regulatory updates that may affect reimbursement.
    • Coordinate with program staff to ensure service documentation meets Medicaid billing standards prior to claim submission.
    • Maintain organized billing records and documentation to support audits, compliance reviews, and Medicaid retention requirements.
    • Develop and maintain Excel-based billing trackers and reconciliation reports to monitor claims, reimbursement totals, and outstanding balances.
    • Prepare regular billing and revenue reports for the Finance and Administration Supervisor highlighting claim volume, reimbursement trends, and denial patterns.
    • Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce billing errors and accelerate reimbursement cycles.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What Success Looks Like

    • Medicaid claims are submitted accurately and on schedule with a low denial rate and timely reimbursement.
    • Finance leadership has clear visibility into Medicaid revenue through reliable billing trackers and reporting.
    • Billing records and documentation remain organized, compliant, and audit-ready.
    • Strong coordination with program and finance staff ensures documentation meets Medicaid billing standards and claims move efficiently through the process.

    Qualifications

    Required Experience

    • Two or more years of experience in Medicaid billing, healthcare billing, or government-funded program finance, including direct experience submitting and reconciling claims.

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience using a state Medicaid billing platform such as eMedNY or a comparable system.
    • Familiarity with 1115 Medicaid Waiver programs or Social Care Network services.
    • Experience working with referral and billing platforms such as Unite Us or FindHelp.

    Required Skills

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, and building billing trackers and reconciliation reports.
    • Experience with Medicaid billing workflows, claims processing, and denial management.
    • Comfort working with billing platforms and data systems such as Unite Us, FindHelp, or similar tools.
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy with the ability to identify and correct errors before submission.
    • Clear written communication and the ability to explain billing issues and updates to non-finance colleagues.
    • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy and data security requirements.
    • Ability to work independently and manage workflow effectively in a part-time remote or hybrid role.

    Compensation and Work Environment

    • Competitive pay in the range of $35,000 - $40,000/year, depending on experience.
    • Hybrid work environment with one to two days in office per week.
    • Typical schedule is approximately 20 hours per week.
    • Alternate schedules may be considered, including a Tuesday through Saturday schedule or occasional evening availability depending on operational needs.
    • Full benefits eligibility begins at 30 hours per week. At 15 to 25 hours per week, this role is not currently eligible for the full benefits package, though there may be potential for hours to grow over time.
