Friends of the Walkway, the nonprofit partner supporting Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, is seeking a Program Manager to help shape the next chapter of community engagement at one of the Hudson Valley’s most iconic public spaces.
This new, full-time role leads three mission-critical areas — membership, programming, and event coordination — helping deepen community connection while strengthening long-term sustainability in support of our recently adopted Strategic Plan.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, self-directed professional who enjoys building systems, managing multiple priorities, and working collaboratively within a small, mission-driven team. The Program Manager will own a defined portfolio of work and play a visible role in delivering meaningful experiences for visitors, members, volunteers, and partners — working closely with staff and New York State Parks.
What You’ll Lead
Membership Growth & Engagement
- Grow and strengthen the Walkway’s membership program
- Develop strategies to retain and engage members
- Oversee membership systems, communications, and fulfillment
Programming & Community Engagement
- Deliver educational and interpretive programs, including youth and docent initiatives
- Expand community-centered offerings that reflect Friends’ mission
- Collaborate with volunteers and partners to enhance impact
Event Coordination
- Coordinate logistics and partners for Friends-led events
- Serve as a key liaison with New York State Parks
- Ensure events are organized, inclusive, and mission-aligned
Who You Are
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in nonprofit programs, membership, education, or visitor engagement
- Highly organized with strong follow-through
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams
- A thoughtful communicator with sound judgment and a solutions-oriented mindset
