    Senior Director of Programs

    Full-Time Exempt | Reports to Deputy Executive Director

    Position Overview

    Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Director of Programs strategically aligns Clery Center programs with its mission. This role serves as the key liaison with government officials and programmatic partners nationally. The role requires direct, in depth knowledge of higher education campus safety policy and comfort and skill collaborating with elected and appointed officials, as well as higher education and nonprofit leaders, through education and advocacy. The Senior Director of Programs coordinates Clery Center’s policy positions and ensures Clery Center programs are relevant, data-driven, and have impact. This position is fully remote and must have access to a major airport with anticipated travel across the United States up to 20% of the time.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Programs Supervision and Leadership

    • Provides direct supervision to the Programs Team through professional development, evaluating performance, and providing feedback
    • Strategizes for the continued growth and development of outward facing training and education programs in consultation with the Programs Team through impact analysis
    • Contributes to annual planning and budgeting as a Clery Center Leadership Team member
    • Supports Deputy Executive Director in ensuring overall compliance with federal Office on Violence Against Women Clery Act Technical Assistance grant for the Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Stalking on Campus
    • Oversees and supports, through collaboration with the Programs Team, training curriculum and resource development and member programmatic services provision

    Partnership Management

    • Cultivates and furthers relationships and partnerships with current and potential Clery Center partners and/or sponsors
    • Leads, facilitates, and supports the activities of the Clery Center National Advisory Council

    Consultation & Conferences/Training Delivery

    • Conceives and implements an annual plan for conference program participation
    • Oversees the provision of Clery Center consultation services
    • Represents Clery Center nationally as an expert on campus safety and the Clery Act through speaking engagements, trainings, and media response
    • Provides Clery Act-specific training and technical assistance together with the Programs Team for OVW Campus Program grantees as needed
    • Conducts annual security report (ASR) reviews as needed

    Research and Policy

    • Conducts Clery Act State of the Field survey every two years
    • Reviews and responds to relevant research and federal policy to guide organizational positions
    • Leads Clery Center’s policy team and strategy
    • Identifies campus safety trends to inform programmatic offerings

    Other Requirements

    • Ability to physically perform the duties listed above and work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in an office or workspace, use of a computer/laptop for several hours at a time, using a headset and making phone calls
    • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time to various locations across the United States as needed
    • Must have access to a private workspace appropriate for virtual training coordination, reliable phone services, and high-speed internet
    • Must be able to work primarily Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM- 6:00 PM EST

    Experience & Qualifications

    • Commitment to Clery Center’s mission of working with colleges and universities to create safer campuses.
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or BA.) required, graduate degree preferred
    • High degree of experience, comfort with, and confidence in direct supervision, preferably of remote team members
    • Well-versed in interpreting and analyzing policy and legislation for diverse audiences
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
    • Expert trainer and facilitator able to translate complicated, nuanced topics into accessible action items
    • Previous experience managing and supporting federal grant application, maintenance, and reporting processes
    • Skilled at navigating between big-picture thinking and detail-oriented execution
    • Familiarity with implementing or teaching on the Clery Act and/or Title IX requirements
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications

    Compensation & Benefits

    Compensation: $75,000-85,000
