    Wissahickon Charter School is looking for an Assistant Lunchroom Manager at our Fernhill Campus. The Assistant Lunchroom Manager will work from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday-Friday and will be responsible for helping to establish a positive, calm, safe and fun environment during all meal times. The Assistant Lunchroom Manager will help ensure the smooth flow of meal service, monitor student behavior during all meals, and assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria. The Assistant Lunchroom Manager will work closely with the lead Lunchroom Manager and will report to the Network Director of School Operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Monitor and facilitate lunches for all students in the lunchroom.
    • Consistently implement daily routines, rules and consequences that create and maintain a positive culture during all meal services.
    • Help manage student behavior during meal service and ensure that all students are meeting WCS' behavioral expectations and are safe at all times. Mediate when conflicts arise among students or seek out the Lunchroom Manager or Culture team for further support as needed.
    • Communicate with students and staff in a positive and professional manner and work to build rapport and relationships with all students.
    • Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten to help any students who need assistance
    • Encourage good table manners and assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
    • Help dismiss classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time
    • Report any observations of students struggling severely either socially or emotionally to the Culture team.
    • Participate in team planning meetings and departmental and school-wide professional development.
    • Cell phone use is limited to emergency situations only. Personal calls/emailing/texting or other personal use of cell phones while with the children is not allowed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred, Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus
    • At least two years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school students, ideally in an urban school environment
    • Experience working in a lunchroom or cafeteria setting strongly preferred
    • Dependable, with a good record of attendance and timeliness
    • A relationship builder; able to build effective relationships with students
    • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
    • Physically able to perform the required duties assigned at sufficient speed. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods of time, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, and the ability to lift at least 25 lbs
    • All applicable clearances required by law including current FBI clearance, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, and proof of a negative TB test
    • Receptiveness to feedback, positive attitude, and a desire to continuously improve
    • Belief in Wissahickon Charter Schools' mission, and the belief that all children can learn and succeed

    Compensation

    This is a 10-month position with a salary of $38,000 plus fully employer-paid medical, vision and dental benefits for the employee, spouse and dependents.
