Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) is a nonprofit organization based in the Lake City neighborhood of North Seattle. HIP’s mission is to increase food security for underserved populations in North King County through nutritious meals, educational programs, and advocacy. Position Summary
FSLA Status: Non-exempt
Supervisor: Summer Activities Coordinator
Hourly Pay: $26.00, 32 hours/week
Location: N Sea/Shoreline, various locations
Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) is seeking a Summer Youth Activities Associate to design, coordinate, and lead activities at meal sites for HIP’s Summer Eats program. Through Summer Eats, HIP provides freshly made, nutritious meals at kid-friendly and accessible locations around north Seattle and Shoreline. In addition to coordinating activities of your own, you will be collaborating with community partners and interns who will lead their own activities and classes. This position involves working with a diverse population of families and youth and requires an understanding of food insecurity.
The schedule during the summer will be roughly 9 am-4 pm Monday through Friday, with some flexibility.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Research, design, and lead activities at meal sites
- Coordinate with community partners to host classes such as skateboarding, and dance at meal sites
- Oversee summer interns who will be assisting with activities
- Maintain an activity schedule and a public Google Calendar
- Use Canva to create outreach material about Summer Eats program and site activities
- Help with outreach
- Document activities through photos and draft social media posts
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary and middle school-aged children and engaging them in activities
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds including program participants, staff, and interns
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent skills in organization and time management
Requirements
- Comfortable lifting up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Comfortable reaching, bending, standing, and/or kneeling repeatedly
- Pass the Washington State Patrol background check (paid for by employer)
- Have a current Driver’s License and owns a vehicle to drive to and from meal sites (will be reimbursed for gas)
- Have basic computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, Canva, and the Google Suite
Compensation and Benefits
In addition to the compensation listed above HIP provides a benefits package that includes:
- A 3% retirement contribution stipend (offered at the end of the employment term)
- Paid time off for 3 days as well as 2 paid holidays (Juneteenth and 4th of July)

Nível de Proficiência do Idioma
English proficiency is required. In addition, ability to speak other languages is highly desirable, specifically: Spanish, Amharic, Oromo, Mandarin, and Arabic.
