    ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

    For 35 years, Global Arts Live has been a leading force in bringing exceptional global music and dance to stages across Greater Boston. We aspire to transcend borders, cultivate community, and enrich lives through cultural diversity and artistic expression. To date, we have presented more than 800 artists from over 70 countries, performing in over 1,500 events attended by more than 1 million people.

    In Fall 2026, Global Arts Live will launch The Platform, a new performing arts center, in partnership with real estate developer BioMed Realty. Located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA, The Platform is part of the 585 Kendall Street building, which will also function as the new R&D headquarters for global pharmaceutical company Takeda.

    The Platform features the 400+seat state-of-the-art Takeda Theater at The Platform, the Tempo Stage at The Platform with flexible seating for 125 anchoring the first-floor commons, two bars, a café, and a rehearsal studio. The Platform is dedicated to supporting artists and nonprofits, work that expands our perspectives, and providing a hub for culture, connection, and conversation.

    ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER JOB OVERVIEW

    Global Arts Live + The Platform are seeking an Assistant House Manager to play a key role in the operations of the Audience Services department. Reporting to the Director of Audience Services, the Assistant House Manager will support all front-of-house activities at The Platform. This position will also collaborate with box office staff on all events at The Platform, to ensure a welcoming and seamless experience for all patrons.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise all performances, in coordination with the House Manager, at The Platform's two stages (the Takeda Theater and the Tempo Stage), and other events in The Platform involving audiences or other guests.
    • Assist with training and supervising Front of House staff including ushers, coat check staff, merchandise sellers, and volunteers
    • Monitor and inventory all Front of House supplies and submit reorder or maintenance requests as needed
    • Oversee Global Arts Live merchandise inventory, including the preparation of sales tables for events
    • Assist the House Manager in creating front-of-house plans for renter events based on the presenting organization's needs
    • Create and distribute Front of House reports and follow up as needed with customer service issues or concerns
    • Collaborate with box office prior to and during events to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons
    • Support cross-departmental projects including but not limited to special events, educational and audience engagement initiatives.

    • Minimum one year of experience in house management and/or customer service required.
    • Prior Box Office experience a bonus, training will be provided otherwise as this position will provide coverage in that department if needed
    • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
    • Ability to confidently manage challenging and dynamic situations with the public while maintaining professionalism
    • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations in a welcoming manner
    • Discretion in handling confidential information
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by event schedules

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • First Aid and CPR certification required; initial training and annual recertification provided
    • Physical demands of the job may include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, working in spaces with lighting effects such as strobe lights, efficiently navigating in a darkened theater

    HOURS

    During the performance season (September–June), this position will be scheduled based on the performance calendar, including regular Monday–Friday office hours for administrative tasks.

    COMPENSATION

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an annual salary range of $52,500. Benefits include health, dental, disability and life insurance; SIMPLE Cafeteria flexible spending account; paid vacation, sick, and personal days; and 10 paid holidays.
