Founded in 2004, CV was piloted with 10 students and has grown to reach 500 young people annually. 97% of participants enroll in college, and 71% earn a degree within 6 years, far surpassing local and national averages. CV Summer Prep is a five-week college and career exploration program for rising 9th through 12th graders attending Providence Public Schools. The program is held on a college campus and allows students to earn a stipend as they complete milestone assignments that foster their personal and professional growth. Throughout the summer, students develop critical social, academic, and career skills that help them discover pathways to college and careers through the Summer Prep curriculum, career site visits, and college tours. CV Summer Prep runs Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm and will begin on Monday, July 7th, and conclude on Thursday, August 7th, 2025. We expect approximately 90 students to participate in the program.
Position Summary: The CV Summer Prep Instructor will be based on-site in Providence, RI, and will be responsible for delivering the college and career readiness curriculum to a classroom of up to 20 summer prep students, setting high expectations, and establishing a positive culture and student experience. CV Summer Prep instructors will educate, supervise, and support students through program benchmarks, class assignments, community-building activities, and other summer program components.
Hours and Schedule: This is a contract position. Instructors are expected to be on-site Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, starting July 7, 2024, through August 7, 2025.
Management: The CV Summer Prep Instructor reports to the College Visions’ Summer Prep Director.
