    Descrição

At Stop Online Harm, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe online. We’re a women-led, high-impact organization dedicated to tackling one of the world’s most urgent and complex problems: Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).

Our mission is survivor-first, not donor-driven. We support survivors, influence policies, and build innovative services that save lives and futures. We are looking for a brilliant and mission-driven researcher to lead our data and research efforts. If you have a strong technical background and a passion for gender justice, this role is for you.

    About the Role

As our TFGBV Researcher, you’ll drive research design, data collection, and analysis to uncover patterns and trends in TFGBV—particularly through social media. You’ll work closely with our advocacy, tech, and survivor support teams to ensure that our work is evidence-based and community-driven.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead research projects focused on understanding TFGBV patterns, narratives, and networks on social media platforms.
    • Conduct social media monitoring and analysis using tools such as Python, R, or other tools.
    • Perform sentiment analysis, content analysis, and other quantitative/qualitative methods to track online hate and abuse.
    • Translate data into actionable insights for advocacy, service design, and public campaigns. Support the development of monitoring tools and dashboards to track TFGBV trends in real time.
    • Collaborate with the tech and communications team to develop survivor-centered research outputs (e.g., visualizations, briefings, explainer videos).
    • Ensure ethical and feminist research standards are embedded in all phases of research.
    • Collaborate with feminist groups, journalists, technologists, and legal experts to develop evidence-based recommendations.

The ideal candidate for this role:

    • Is a self-starter. You work independently and proactively. We’re looking for people who bring ideas and tell us what’s needed—not the other way around. This is non-negotiable.
    • Experienced—at least 3 years in research, data science, social media analysis, or gender-based violence programs.
    • Technically strong: Proficient in Python or R for data analysis. Skilled in social media scraping and monitoring, sentiment analysis, or network mapping.
    • Knowledgeable about gender and human rights. You understand the dynamics of TFGBV and/or online hate targeting women, LGBTIQ+ individuals, and activists.
    • An excellent communicator and writer. You can translate complex findings into accessible insights for different audiences.

    Why Join the Team?

    • Meaningful Impact. Be part of work that truly matters, helping protect women and communities online.
    • Fully Remote & 4-Day Work Week. Enjoy the freedom of remote work and a shorter workweek. We’re serious about work-life balance. Take the time you need to rest and recharge—we trust you to manage your schedule and deliver your best.
    • Wellbeing Matters. Benefit from a personal self-care budget each month and free mental health support so you can thrive both professionally and personally.
    • Personal & Professional Growth. We invest in you. As our organization grows, this role offers exciting potential to evolve into a senior leadership position, giving you the chance to shape the future of our mission and take on strategic responsibilities.
