    Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator Job Description

    Status: Full Time, Exempt (40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends)

    Salary Range: $42,000 to $52,000 annually, DOE

    Position Summary

    The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator leads the Family Peace Center’s volunteer and community engagement programs, helping connect the community to the mission of safety, healing, and hope. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and supporting volunteers, while also coordinating outreach, awareness, and engagement efforts that strengthen relationships with community partners, donors, and supporters. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role collaborates closely with the Director of Services to integrate volunteers into survivor-centered programs, and with the Director of Operations to ensure volunteer systems, facility access, and outreach activities are safe, compliant, and aligned with organizational policies. The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and engaged community around the Family Peace Center.

    Organizational Relationships

    Direct Supervisor: Director of Development

    Key Collaboration: Director of Services (volunteer integration and service alignment); Director of Operations (policy, infrastructure, and compliance support)

    Supervises: Peer Navigators, Center Volunteers, Event Volunteers

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer Program Development and Oversight

    • Design, implement, and sustain a strategic vision for the volunteer program in alignment with the Family Peace Center’s mission and trauma-informed best practices.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to

    maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and handbooks, ensuring compliance with insurance, safety, and legal requirements.

    • Create systems for ongoing evaluation, improvement, and reporting of volunteer contributions and impact on service delivery and community engagement.
    • Align volunteer program goals with the Family Peace Center’s broader strategic plan and outreach

    objectives.

    Volunteer Recruitment and Community Engagement

    • Lead recruitment initiatives across Washington County, prioritizing diversity, equity,

    and lived experience.

    • Build partnerships with community organizations, survivor networks, schools, and businesses to promote volunteerism and expand outreach.
    • Coordinate outreach activities, public events, and awareness campaigns that strengthen community understanding of the Family Peace Center’s mission.
    • Represent the Family Peace Center at community events, partner meetings, and speaking engagements to increase visibility and engagement.

    Training and Supervision

    • Design and deliver trauma-informed volunteer orientation and role-specific training programs.
    • Supervise Peer Navigators, Center Volunteers, and Event Volunteers, providing ongoing coaching, reflective supervision, and group support as

    appropriate.

    • Collaborate with the Navigation Manager to ensure Peer Navigators are effectively integrated into survivor navigation services.
    • Ensure clarity of

    role, boundaries, and ethical practices for all volunteers.

    Operations, Data Management, and Compliance

      Maintain volunteer scheduling, communication, and recognition systems.

      • Track volunteer hours, service activity, and feedback; generate program reports for internal and external use.
      • Ensure compliance with facility safety requirements, insurance coverage, and organizational policies related to volunteers and outreach activities.
      • Provide volunteer and outreach data to the Director of Development for engagement reporting, and to the Directors of Services and Operations for program and compliance oversight.
      • Contribute volunteer and outreach-related content to grant reports, newsletters, and fundraising materials.

      Essential Skills & Competencies

      • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with

      ability to manage a diverse volunteer workforce.

      • Experience in volunteer coordination, outreach, program management, or community engagement.
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills across diverse audiences.
      • Commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive practices.
      • Ability to manage multiple projects and events with attention to detail and timelines.
      • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with adaptability to changing priorities.

        Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and volunteer or CRM management software.

        Qualifications

        • Minimum 3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or program management.
        • Demonstrated leadership and organizational development skills.
        • Experience working with communities impacted by violence and systemic oppression.
        • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
        • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
        • Must pass pre-employment background check, fingerprinting, and complete post-hire DV 40-hour training.
        • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
