    Descrição

The Warehouse Worker Resource Center (WWRC) is seeking a qualified Policy Coordinator to lead our public policy and advocacy work in the logistics sector. This is a senior position for a campaigner experienced in developing, passing and implementing public policy in support of worker and community organizing priorities. The Policy Coordinator will support organizing in supply chains of major retailers and move policy to advance an accountable and sustainable goods movement sector in the Inland Empire of Southern California. This is a new role at WWRC with an opportunity to help shape and lead emerging work on public policy related to AI and automation in the workplace.

    About the WWRC

WWRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the thousands of workers in the supply chains of major retailers across Southern California through education, advocacy and action. WWRC is the premier worker organizing center in the Inland Empire, with a track record of changing the logistics sector through strategic organizing, education and policy. We campaign for justice in the supply chains of major retailers. We educate workers and community members about their rights in the community and the workplace. We support workers with legal and administrative claims when they encounter violations at work. And we work to develop, pass and implement local and statewide policy that benefits warehouse workers and their families.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Advocate for the establishment, implementation and enforcement of policies that promote good jobs in the warehouse and logistics sector as well as immigrant rights in the workplace. Key policy priorities currently include workplace health and safety, expanding the unemployment safety net to all workers regardless of immigration status, and workplace surveillance, algorithmic management and automation.
    • Help establish and lead a new initiative with WWRC and partner organizations to develop and advocate for policies on workers’ rights, participation and control relating to AI, robotics and automation in the warehouse sector.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal policymakers and provide education on issues relevant to sustainable goods movement.
    • Participate in policy development and advocacy as part of local, regional and statewide coalitions, including the California Coalition for Worker Power and Athena.
    • Participate in developing popular education curricula and training employers, workers and community members on the trends and policies of a sustainable goods movement sector.

    Qualifications

    • Dedication to social justice and community development through organizing.
    • Experience with policymaking process and advocacy strategies.
    • Familiarity with labor, employment and/or transportation policy and law.
