    Descrição

    Title: Program Associate, Brazil Program

Reports to: Program Director, Brazil Program

For over four decades, the Inter-American Dialogue has been the leading platform for policy analysis, exchange, and collaboration on Western Hemisphere affairs. Based in Washington, DC, the Dialogue convenes senior leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to shape debates, generate ideas, and advance solutions to address the region’s most pressing challenges and seize emerging opportunities. The Dialogue sets itself apart through the reach of its influence, the quality of its analysis, and its unique identity as a truly hemispheric organization.

    Job Description:

The Inter-American Dialogue seeks a Program Associate to join its Brazil Program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively in both English and Portuguese.

The Brazil Program is the only country-specific policy program in Washington dedicated to Brazil, working to deepen understanding of the country’s political, economic, and social landscape and to strengthen ties between Brazilian and U.S. institutions across sectors. The program produces independent research and convenes high-level events that bridge scholarship and policy, serving as a hub for policymakers, scholars, and private sector leaders. Its work focuses on four core areas: democratic governance and institutional strengthening; sustainable development, including clean energy, resilient food systems, and Amazon preservation; emerging technologies, including AI, privacy, and cybersecurity; and strengthening Brazil–U.S. relations through cross-sector collaboration.

The Program Associate’s time will be allocated approximately as follows: 30% research, writing, and editing; 40% event planning; and 30% administrative and logistical support.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Conduct research for projects and presentations related to U.S.–Brazil relations, including independent analysis on a selective basis
    • Prepare background memos, briefing materials, talking points, presentations, event summaries, and other analytical products for the Program Director and senior stakeholders
    • Track political, economic, and policy developments in Brazil and the United States relevant to the program’s agenda
    • Draft and contribute to reports, articles, op-eds, and other written products. Support the editing, translation, design, and publication of these materials
    • Coordinate and execute public and private events, conferences, and delegations, including drafting invitations, liaising with high-level participants, managing travel and lodging, overseeing vendors, and ensuring seamless day-of execution, including AV and technical logistics
    • Manage website content and the program’s social media presence
    • Maintain and expand relationships with key stakeholders
    • Assist in drafting fundraising proposals and donor reports
    • Support the program’s financial tracking and administrative processes, including expense tracking and day-to-day operational tasks
    • Perform additional duties as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred, with strong academic credentials
    • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in US-Brazil affairs and/or in Brazil´s legal, government affairs, political or economic sectors
    • Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to produce high-quality, accurate work while managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines
    • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and supporting the production of major reports, convenings, or other programmatic outputs
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in engaging with senior stakeholders
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign) and databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) a plus
    • Fluency in English and Portuguese required

    Compensation and Benefits:

Salary US$50,000-54,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
