The Coalition for the Homeless is the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping the homeless population. To assist its 80+ employees in meeting those needs, the Coalition supports a dynamic, heterogeneous network from its downtown New York headquarters. As a member of the Coalition’s Information Technology Department, the IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible, under the supervision of the IT Manager, for troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining most of the day-to-day technology issues. He or she is the first tier of support when it comes to the computers, printers, phones, software, and networking components of the Coalition’s technology environment.
The IT Infrastructure Administrator will be responsible for the administration, support, security, modernization, and continuous improvement of the organization’s enterprise IT infrastructure across cloud and on premises environments. They will lead initiatives to implement new technologies, automate processes, improve operational workflows, and strengthen cybersecurity while ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems. They will serve as a technical resource for infrastructure planning, Microsoft 365 administration, cloud services, networking, endpoint management, audiovisual technologies, and end user support while collaborating with leadership to modernize the organization’s IT environment. The successful candidate must show great initiative, have excellent client service and communications skills, be highly organized and thorough, and must have a calm and steadfast manner in high stress situations.
Other requirements: ability to maneuver heavy equipment; a willingness to work with different populations; the desire to learn new technologies; and a friendly, customer-service-driven focus.
Responsibilities Include:
The IT Infrastructure Administrator shall:
- In conjunction with the Director of Operations and Technology and the IT Manager, form a cohesive team that responds to the technology needs of the organization.
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, AWS cloud resources, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, enterprise storage, and virtual server environments.
- Administer and continuously improve the Microsoft 365 environment by managing users, licensing, shared mailboxes, Microsoft Entra ID, security groups, dynamic groups, application registrations, enterprise applications, administrative roles, and integrations between Microsoft 365 services, Intune, and third party platforms.
- Design, implement, and enhance enterprise technologies including Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, endpoint management, identity management, cloud services, automation, and modern IT workflows to improve security, operational efficiency, and the overall user experience.
- Provide Tier II and Tier III technical support by troubleshooting complex hardware, software, networking, cloud, Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, infrastructure, and audiovisual (AV) related issues while delivering exceptional support to end users across multiple office locations.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding by provisioning user accounts, licenses, devices, mobile equipment, access permissions, and enterprise applications while ensuring compliance with organizational security standards.
- Administer and support enterprise networking including firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, VPN connectivity, DNS, DHCP, network monitoring, maintenance, performance optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable and secure network operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and perform infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, preventative maintenance, and lifecycle management for servers, SAN storage, UPS systems, networking equipment, endpoint devices, and other enterprise technologies while minimizing operational downtime.
- Configure, administer, and monitor cybersecurity technologies including ESET Protect Cloud, endpoint protection, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), Full Disk Encryption, firewall policies, threat prevention, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance while promoting cybersecurity best practices throughout the organization.
- Manage Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot by deploying applications, configuring compliance policies, device configuration profiles, security baselines, endpoint lifecycle management, and mobile device management across Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms.
- Develop PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, deployments, reporting, and other operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Administer enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions including Veeam and Carbonite by monitoring backup health, validating restoration procedures, and supporting organizational resilience.
- Evaluate, implement, and support enterprise technologies including BeyondTrust remote support, collaboration platforms, SaaS applications, cloud services, and infrastructure solutions while coordinating with vendors throughout implementation and ongoing support.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, infrastructure improvements, security solutions, and operational workflows while partnering with leadership to modernize the organization’s IT environment and improve service delivery.
- Configure, support, and troubleshoot conference room technology and audiovisual (AV) systems including Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom meetings, displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, and presentation equipment while providing technical support for executive meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system standards, operational procedures, asset inventories, and knowledge base articles to support consistent IT operations and long term infrastructure management.
- Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Operations and Technology, IT Manager, Executive Director or designee.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in a relevant discipline required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least 2 years’ experience in a related position. Working knowledge/demonstrable skill of the following– Computer hardware; Windows operating systems (Windows 11, Windows Server 2012-2022); Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Cloud; MAC OS, printer maintenance; networking fundamentals; VoIP; audio/visual.
Familiarity with co-location services, and cloud computing, such as AWS, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
