About COHSF
Founded in 1987, the Coalition on Homelessness, San Francisco organizes low-income and unhoused people to create permanent solutions to poverty and homelessness while protecting civil and human rights. Our staff, volunteers, and leadership are primarily made up of people directly impacted by homelessness. Our Art Auction is our largest annual fundraiser, engaging over 1,000 community members annually.
Role Overview
The Art Auction Coordinator leads all aspects of art procurement, artist relations, cataloging, and exhibition execution for the 2026 Art Auction. This includes managing a hybrid auction model using ClickBid for online bidding, registration, and payments.
Key Responsibilities
Art Procurement & Artist Relations:
- Solicit and secure 100–200 artworks
- Manage artist contracts and communication
- Conduct outreach through open calls and direct invitations
- Coordinate framing and in-kind support
ClickBid & Database Management:
- Maintain artwork database with lot numbers, pricing, and descriptions
- Upload and manage auction listings in ClickBid
- Support bidder registration and ticket tracking
- Assist with live auction platform management
Curation & Exhibition:
- Work with Art Auction Committee on selection and pricing
- Design exhibition layout and floor plan
- Lead installation, labeling, and display coordination
Promotion & Outreach:
- Promote auction in artist and community networks
- Manage social media content (especially Instagram)
- Support Mailchimp and invitation campaigns
Event Production & Execution:
- Prepare auctioneer materials and artist bios
- Coordinate volunteers and art logistics
- Support setup, installation, and breakdown
Post-Auction Work:
- Coordinate artwork pickup and return
- Assist with artist payments and commission tracking
- Send thank-you communications
- Support record keeping and evaluation
Qualifications
- Experience in art coordination, exhibitions, or auctions
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience working with artists and galleries
- Familiarity with Bay Area arts community preferred
- Experience with digital tools and databases
- ClickBid or similar platform experience strongly preferred
- Graphic design and social media skills a plus
- Ability to respond to all communications in 24 hours
Work Style
- Flexible, project-based schedule
- Increased workload closer to event
- In-office presence required mid-July through mid-September
- Participation in Art Auction Committee meetings
