    The UJCES Adult Luncheon Club is an Older Adult Center operated by the United Jewish Council of the East Side and funded by NYC Aging. We serve a diverse community of older adults from all cultures and backgrounds, providing a welcoming space for daily meals, social connection, and supportive services. We offer in-person lunches, classes and activities, and case work and referrals to benefits and resources that help older adults remain active, independent, and engaged.

    Position Summary

    The Case Assistance & Client Services Coordinator plays a key role in supporting older adults through compassionate direct service, benefits navigation, and daily engagement at our community center. This position provides hands-on assistance to walk-in clients and callers, connects them to essential city resources, and helps ensure that all center operations run smoothly and welcomingly. The ideal candidate is warm, organized, resourceful, and committed to promoting the well-being and dignity of older adults.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct ongoing research of local and citywide resources for older adults
    • Provide Case Assistance, Information, and Referral services to walk-in clients and callers, with accurate data entry and case notes
    • Complete timely follow-up on all referrals and benefits applications
    • Engage clients with empathy, respect, patience, and professionalism
    • Accompany clients to benefit offices (Public Assistance, Social Security, Medicaid, HRA) and advocate during applications or fair hearings
    • Pre-screen and assist clients with applications for Medicaid, SNAP/EBT, and other benefits
    • Make daily birthday calls and update annual contact and demographic information
    • Conduct annual Nutrition Screening Initiative (NSI) assessments and provide referrals to nutritionists when indicated
    • Welcome and sign in clients for daily lunch; collect contributions in a friendly, community-oriented manner
    • Promote classes, activities, and special events through calls, flyers, and social media outreach
    • Respond to Home Delivered Meals “No Answers” in collaboration with the HDM Coordinator and ensure client safety
    • Supervise clients on center trips and outings
    • Ensure all current and new clients complete NYC Aging Consent to Collect Data forms and Case Assistance Consent forms
    • Provide general administrative and human services support as needed, with a positive, solutions-focused attitude

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience working with older adults or vulnerable populations
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills
    • Familiarity with NYC benefits systems (Medicaid, SNAP, HRA, etc.)
    • Ability to write clear case notes and manage confidential information
    • Comfort working in a busy community-center environment
    • Bilingual skills a plus
