    Reporting to the Director of Education, this position will work collaboratively with Coolidge staff to support the organization, communication, and execution of all education programming, particularly our new youth program, Coolidge Classroom.

    Coolidge Classroom is a free field-trip program for middle- and high-school students that uses film to support existing curriculum in a variety of disciplines including STEM, world language, and the humanities, while simultaneously engaging media literacy skills and foundations of cinema studies. In its 24-25 pilot year, Coolidge Classroom served approximately 2000 students.

    With the addition of our new Education and Community Engagement Center in 2024, Coolidge Education programs have also expanded to include a higher volume of Community Education offerings such as multi-week courses, intro seminars, and discussions for audiences of all ages.

    The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, media literacy, and working with young people, and be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.

    This is a full-time position; periodic evening or weekend work is required.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Coordinate logistics and administrative details of reservations and registration for all education initiatives through online processing, phone, email, and in person
    • Maintain strong cooperative relationships with administrators, districts, and schools as point of contact for education-related communications
    • Facilitate post-screening discussions for a variety of age levels and subject areas
    • Occasionally lead education events in the absence of Education Director
    • Collaborate with Programming and Outreach Coordinator to facilitate Community Education offerings
    • Work with Programming and Outreach Coordinator to develop education outreach strategies to increase attendance and access for all programs
    • Collaborate with Education Director on curriculum, particularly adaptation and accommodation for diverse constituents
    • Assist with research for programming and curriculum (may include reading, collecting and previewing materials for study guides, watching films, communicating with teachers, brainstorming discussion questions)
    • Support day-of set-up and breakdown of Education events
    • Welcome, check in, and orient visiting small and large school groups
    • Collaborate with Education Director to establish annual goals for the Education Program
    • Represent the Coolidge at off-site conferences, booths, and events
    • Assist in the development of new education programs
    • Gather, evaluate, and implement feedback on education programs
    • Maintain resource archives and databanks for education meetings and materials including taking notes, organizing drives, and streamlining document-sharing across departments
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in education (grades 5-12) or education/public programs at a nonprofit, museum, university, or cultural institution required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Strong tech skills in standard office software, e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies, verbally and in writing
    • Ability to carry out projects independently, take initiative, and collaborate, managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
    • Comfortable with large groups, public speaking, and flexibility in response to change
    • Enthusiasm for working with young people and educators
    • Appreciation for the Coolidge’s mission to “entertain, inform, and engage–building a vital community through film culture”
