    Job Summary:

    The Building & Facilities Manager is a senior-level position responsible for the strategic

    oversight, maintenance, and operational management of all Council of Peoples Organization

    facilities. This includes the organization’s current buildings (1075, 1077, 1079, and the 1814

    building) as well as any future properties acquired to support program expansion, food

    operations, or other organizational growth initiatives.

    This role is critical to relieving executive leadership of day-to-day building management

    responsibilities and ensuring that all facilities are safe, compliant, fully operational, and prepared

    to support current and future programming. The Building & Facilities Manager provides

    proactive oversight, supervises facilities staff or vendors, coordinates inspections and

    compliance matters, and plays a key role in long-term planning for organizational growth.

    Responsibilities: ● Provide overall management and oversight of all COPO-owned and operated buildings, ensuring consistent standards across multiple locations ● Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and compliance risks before they escalate ● Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all buildings and building systems ● Oversee repairs and maintenance related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, structural integrity, roofing, exterior spaces, and accessibility ● Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities-related issues, removing the operational burden from executive and program leadership ● Coordinate and supervise janitorial staff, maintenance staff, and external vendors or contractors as applicable ● Ensure timely response to urgent and emergency situations, including weather-related issues such as snow removal, ice management, and extreme cold or heat events ● Monitor compliance with local, city, and state regulations, including fire safety, sanitation, building codes, and ADA requirements ● Manage and respond to violations, tickets, inspections, or notices from city agencies, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly ● Maintain documentation related to inspections, maintenance, violations, permits, and completed work ● Support space planning and utilization for program operations, including setup, reconfiguration, and readiness of offices and service areas ● Coordinate facilities needs for food pantry operations, storage areas, and any future food or warehouse-related facilities ● Participate in planning discussions related to future property acquisitions, renovations, or expansions, providing facilities and operational insight ● Support leadership with facility-related input for funding proposals, capital planning, and organizational growth initiatives ● Oversee inventory and proper use of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies ● Ensure all buildings remain fully operational to support uninterrupted delivery of programs and services Qualifications: ● High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred ● Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, property management, or multi-building operations ● Demonstrated experience managing multiple buildings or complex facilities ● Strong working knowledge of building systems, safety regulations, and preventative maintenance practices ● Experience supervising staff, vendors, or contractors ● Ability to manage inspections, violations, and regulatory compliance matters proactively ● Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize across multiple sites ● Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision ● Reliable transportation and ability to travel between multiple locations as required ● Physical ability to perform site inspections and respond to emergency situations when needed
