    Allen-Stevenson seeks an admissions and enrollment professional who will utilize a data-informed and mission-aligned strategic enrollment approach to guide the school in all aspects of its enrollment and retention efforts.

    Founded in 1883, The Allen-Stevenson School has been educating boys in Grades K-8 for over 140 years.     The schoolhouse on the Upper East Side of New York City was recently fully renovated and includes modern spaces for visual and performing arts, science and engineering labs, an enlarged Library Tech Commons, and a teaching greenhouse.

    Allen-Stevenson occupies an attractive spot in the New York City K-8 boys’ school landscape. Families seek admission to our school because of its legacy of educating well-rounded, conscientious, passionate and compassionate young men. In the 2025-2026 school year, A-S is excited to launch its newest program, Cornerstones, a small transitional kindergarten designed to support young five-year-olds as they develop the foundational numeracy and literacy skills that will set them up for long-term success. Our next Associate Director of Admissions will build upon a history of strong partnerships with early childhood settings in New York City and beyond and provide logistical, organizational, and strategic support to the Enrollment Management Office. Additionally, this individual will connect with inquiring and applicant families and help sustain a mission-fit pipeline of candidates.

    This is a full-time, 12-month position with competitive salary and benefits. This role is not eligible for remote work and the candidate is expected to be on-site during the academic year with flexible work options available in the summer months.

    Salary Budgeted for this Position $100,000 commensurate with education and experience.

    Key Qualifications and Qualities

    The Associate Director of Admissions serves as a member of the Enrollment Management Office and reports to the Director ofAdmissions, Enrollment and Financial Aid. In collaboration with the Director, the Associate Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership for the school’s enrollment program, recruiting students and families whose personal philosophies and goals are in line withthe school’s mission.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Support the Director in developing and implementing a forward-thinking, strategic Admissions and Enrollment Managementprogram that allows the school to successfully fulfill the mission and meet targeted enrollment goals
    • Ensure the clear communication of the school’s mission, strategic goals, philosophy and culture to all prospective parents andstudents
    • Support the positioning and strategic marketing of the school and its programs and help to develop representative marketingmaterials that capture the A-S program for outreach to a diverse applicant pool
    • Work with the Director of Admissions and Director of Communications to develop digital and print communications for the purposeof attracting and retaining mission-appropriate families
    • In collaboration with the Director of Admissions, create, organize, and execute admissions events, including (but not limited to) openhouses, applicant parent coffees, new family welcome events, etc.
    • Cultivate a strong partnership with the School’s faculty, staff, administration and trustees
    • Support school outreach to community based organizations that support a diverse applicant pool (for example, Prep for Prep, EarlySteps, Oliver Scholars, ACES, etc.)
    • Stay current with the best practices for communication and policy during the Admissions process (ISAAGNY guidelines)

    Key Job Duties

    Organize candidate visit days (notification of student buddies, outreach to applicant’s parents, communication with thefaculty/staff) Conduct parent interviews

    Represent the school locally and nationally at professional meetings and conferences, including participating in regionalassociations to stay current with trends and best practices

    Coordinate and recruit diverse parent volunteers (Tour Guides, PA Welcome Committee)

    Routinely cultivate relationships with administrators at local pre-schools, elementary, and middle schools and apprise them of the school’s program enhancements

    Work with the Director of Admissions to evaluate, reflect on, and update Admissions process as needed

    Work with the Director of Admissions to maintain/evaluate Admissions statistics (per Board ReportData) Participate in school-wide events and meetings

    Accept and perform other duties as assigned

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Prior experience in admissions as well as classroom teaching experience highly preferred
    • Demonstrate a passion for and alignment with Allen-Stevenson as well as a keen ability to convey the school’s program,opportunities and vision to an array of constituencies, both verbally and in writing
    • Possess an understanding of Allen-Stevenson’s TK-8th grade level curriculum across disciplines and the school’s educationphilosophy

    Exhibit a cooperative team approach, complete with a good sense of humor and demonstration of a united front

    Display initiative, internal motivation and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitlydefined

    Execute responsibilities efficiently and adhere to deadlines

    Possess expertise in Admissions and retention strategies, including the development of communications and events that help convey the value of an Allen-Stevenson education

    Exhibit sound judgment related to confidential conversations, projects, and information related to the School or any of itsconstituents

    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, presentation software, and communication technologies, including social media,the ability to conduct effective online research and knowledge of database management (Ravenna, Veracross)

    Availability on nights and weekends is required at specific intervals throughout the admissions season
