    Job Summary:

    The Director, Financial Support Services is responsible for continuous improvement and efficient execution of workflows that support gift processing and/or other functions, as assigned. The Director evaluates, executes and owns end-to-end processes, identifies opportunities to streamline, and ensures integration of team activities with those of key stakeholder teams across the organization. The Director champions standardized documentation, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and coaches teams in delivery of timely, accurate results that also enhance internal and external customer satisfaction.

    Compensation:

    • The pay range for this job is $121,064 - $127,436/annually.

    Essential Duties:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the gift processing team, including receiving, recording, and receipting gifts in line with best practices and professional standards.
    • Ensure timely and accurate entry of gifts into the CRM/AR subledger (Mission CRM).
    • Maintain and enforce policies and procedures for gift acceptance, processing, reconciliation, and documentation.
    • Analyze existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement lean, standardized procedures, owning team outcomes end to end.
    • Lead documentation efforts for all key workflows; maintain a single source of truth for team processes.
    • Serve as a change champion: communicate team objectives, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive user adoption.
    • Cultivate a culture of collaboration and mutual accountability among a team of processing specialists, including designing and implementing a cross-training program incorporating periodic ‘show-and-tell’ meetings.
    • Monitor team morale and engagement; address performance and coaching needs promptly while fostering a climate of psychological safety.
    • Plan and execute process-improvement projects, working cross-functionally with IT, Engagement Operations, and Finance/Accounting team and other key partners, as assigned.
    • Define process scope, milestones, and success metrics; drive, track and report out on progress.
    • Act as a primary liaison to the Engagement team: understand fundraising and marketing requirements, resolve escalations, and deliver timely reporting and operational support.
    • Implement and enforce controls to ensure accuracy of the Mission CRM AR subledger, related account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
    • Conduct periodic audits, gap analyses, and root-cause investigations; remediate issues with corrective action plans.
    • Partner with the COO on strategic initiatives, risk mitigation, and periodic status updates.

    • Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • 5+ years of progressive experience working in a CRM‑based AR subledger or ERP subledger module (e.g., AR, AP, Payroll, Purchasing); strong understanding of charitable giving a plus.
    • 3+ years of hands‑on experience leading or supervising a processing team or comparable group in a shared‑services, finance, or operations environment.
    • 2+ years driving process‑improvement or automation projects (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, RPA, etc.), including designing workflows and documenting standard operating procedures.
    • Demonstrated track record (at least 1–2 years) collaborating directly with sales/fundraising and accounting/stakeholder teams to integrate workflows, resolve escalations, and deliver customer‑centric service.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in core accounting concepts, including AR subledger fundamentals, journal entries, and reconciliations.
    • Demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.
    • Demonstrated competence with office technology, the Internet, CRM systems, and solid skills with MS Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
