    The American Booksellers Association (“ABA”) is excited to hire an Education Manager to join our team of passionate, collaborative committed individuals who work to support independent bookstores around the country and their work in their communities. This position reports directly to ABA’s Director of Education.

    The essential functions of this job include the following:

    • Develop, create, and coordinate education content and planning for ABA and regional conferences
    • Create education materials including presentations and handouts
    • Present education sessions
    • Assist with event execution and logistics before, during, and after education conferences
    • Participate in pre-event conference calls and video calls with presenters and panelists
    • Create, host, manage and/or support general education initiatives
    • Facilitate virtual education
    • Contribute to overall departmental strategy to ensure members’ needs are met
    • Implement member feedback mechanisms and use that feedback to inform education content
    • Work collaboratively and independently on education team initiatives, manage multiple projects at once, and identify priorities based on individual, team, and organizational needs
    • Maintain education resources for members
    • Research, network, and liaise with booksellers, industry partners, and subject experts to ensure education deliverables are aligned with member needs
    • Stay up to date with current trends in education
    • Prioritize equity, access, representation and antiracism in all work.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

    Required experience and skills include:

    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to cold call members and vendors to discuss education needs/resources
    • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Express and Google suite skills
    • Strong ability to work independently with minimal team interaction or supervision
    • Strong organizational and follow through skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity and access
    • Project management experience
    • Administrative experience
    • Associate Degree or equivalent life learning/experience
    • Education experience

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.
    • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. Must be able to do repetitive motion of hands or wrists, finger, grasp, handle, or feel; push and pull with arms; reach with arms and/or hands; crouch, bend, or kneel. Occasionally may need to climb.
    • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

    Location:

    Remote. This position requires domestic travel. 7-10 days twice a year; 3-5 days a few times a year; and occasional ad hoc meetings. This position may also require occasional work on nights and weekends as business needs dictate.

    Compensation:

    $60,000 a year, depending on experience
