    POSITION SUMMARY

    Lady Freethinker seeks a Communications Coordinator to maintain online communications that inspire people to become changemakers for animals. This person will play a critical role in growing the organization’s influence and community of support through social media, content creation, email support, digital advocacy, public relations, and other digital marketing tools. We’re looking for someone who can strategize social media posts, analyze results, create eye-catching graphics, and write articles, press releases, and newsletters. Ideal candidates will have excellent writing skills, know how to communicate well with the public, pay close attention to detail, organize their time and tasks well, and demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare.

    Expected to be a FT 40 hour/week position. Hours worked must be between 8 AM & 5 PM PST. California residents preferred. Non-U.S. residents may be considered, but would be hired as independent contractors only, not employees, and, therefore, would not receive benefits.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Social Media: Growing the organization’s reach and engagement on its primary channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, BlueSky, and LinkedIn) through analytics-based strategy, providing ongoing guidance to the team, and regularly monitoring results.
    • Content Creation: Creating engaging and quality content for LFT’s newsletter, writing petitions and news stories using WordPress, and developing engaging graphics using Canva.
    • Public Relations: Writing and distributing press releases, maintaining media lists, and following up with media outlets.
    • Social Listening: Identifying opportunities for the organization to participate in relevant online conversations by tracking trending topics and hashtags.
    • Analytics: Generating basic performance metrics for weekly reports; providing recommendations to help evolve digital strategy and content ideas; monitoring engagement and data closely to suggest ideas for audience expansion.
    • Content Strategy: Identifying & proposing opportunities for blog posts or other content to further reach LFT’s audience. Liaising with staff to plan & develop upcoming campaign releases.

    • Dependability and Reliability: Responds to work assignments and requests by being cooperative and available. Follows through and meets commitments. Reschedules meetings and deadlines well in advance if necessary; but will go out of way to make every effort to make meeting and/or deadline.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience creating engaging, thoughtful, purpose-driven content for readers, exhibiting excellent writing skills and grammar.
    • Demonstrated experience strategically engaging audiences on different social media platforms through organic posts.
    • Proficiency with graphic design and video creation for social media.
    • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and communications tools.
    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing LFT’s values, mission, and goals, with an understanding of animal advocacy.
