Health systems will not be accountable to people without a fully engaged and organized community voice. That’s why we work every day to ensure people’s interests are represented wherever important decisions about health and health care are made: in communities, state houses and on Capitol Hill.

    Role Summary

The Senior Director, Enterprise Technology & Governance provides enterprise leadership and accountability for the organization’s technology ecosystem. This role ensures that systems, data, and workflows are integrated, appropriately governed, and aligned with organizational strategy, operational execution, and financial stewardship.

This is an enterprise leadership role, not a basic IT support function. While day-to-day IT support focuses on troubleshooting, device management, and user-level technical assistance, this role operates at the enterprise level—owning system strategy, integration, governance, and cross-functional alignment. The role partners closely with IT support functions and external providers, setting direction and standards to ensure that IT services and tools support organizational priorities effectively.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own the enterprise technology ecosystem, partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Revenue to ensure CRM, HRIS, financial, and grants management systems are integrated, well-governed, and aligned with organizational strategy and execution.
    • Lead and build integrated enterprise technology systems in partnership with internal departments and external technology partners, providing oversight for all organizational IT and system needs.
    • Work directly with Operations to design and implement workflow processes, embedding them into integrated enterprise systems and providing direction for dashboards that support strategic decision-making across Finance, Operations, Revenue, and Grants Management.
    • Partner with Operations, IT support, and external providers to support cybersecurity and data protection practices, ensuring appropriate safeguards, access controls, and risk awareness across enterprise systems.
    • Ensure effective information flow across platforms to reduce manual workarounds and improve data consistency.
    • Provide direction on enterprise technology priorities, sequencing enhancements based on organizational impact and operational needs.
    • Establish and maintain appropriate technology and data governance, including system access, role-based permissions, and data integrity.
    • Partner with Finance to ensure financial controls and compliance requirements are embedded within systems and workflows.
    • Support Revenue and Programs by ensuring grant, donor, and contract data is accurately captured and usable across systems.
    • Oversee technology-related vendor relationships, including renewals, performance evaluation, and risk awareness.
    • Lead change management and adoption efforts, including training, documentation, and user enablement.
    • Identify enterprise technology risks and improvement opportunities and elevate recommendations to leadership.

    Decision-Making & Accountability

    • Serves as the single point of accountability for enterprise technology alignment and coherence.
    • Recommends enterprise technology priorities and sequencing.
    • Partners with Finance and Operations on decisions that impact financial controls, compliance, or enterprise risk.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Required
      • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • 10+ years of experience in enterprise systems, technology-enabled operations, or organizational transformation.
      • Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Revenue, and Program teams.
      • Hands-on experience with ERP, CRM, HRIS, and related enterprise platforms.
      • Strong understanding of business processes, data integrity, and internal controls.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and partnership.
    • Preferred
      • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, ADP, or similar platforms.
      • Experience in nonprofit, public sector, or mission-driven organizations.
      • Familiarity with grants management and revenue systems.

    What Success Looks Like

    • Enterprise systems are integrated, reliable, and fit for purpose.
    • Leadership has improved visibility into financial, operational, and revenue information.
    • Reduced reliance on manual processes and system workarounds.
    • Clear ownership and accountability for enterprise technology and data.
    • Technology supports — rather than constrains — organizational strategy and execution.
