    Verde is a nonprofit with a mission of building environmental wealth through social

    enterprise, outreach, and advocacy. We primarily work in the Cully neighborhood, but

    our work spans across the state. Verde advocates for environmental action that

    improves air quality, energy efficiency, transportation, and water justice for frontline

    communities. We organize our community to provide knowledge about

    environmental challenges in their neighborhood and share ways for them to take

    action to improve their community. Verde builds environmental wealth through the

    green economy by developing community solar, expanding green infrastructure, and

    installing affordable home energy efficiency upgrades. We partner with like-minded

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking an experienced and passionate Solar Project Manager to oversee the

    development and execution of community-based solar energy projects. The ideal

    candidate will have a strong background in project management, renewable energy,

    and stakeholder engagement, with a deep commitment to equity and

    environmental justice.The Solar Project Manager oversees all aspects of solar project

    development and construction, ensuring projects are completed on time, within

    budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strategic leader

    with expertise in project management, construction practices, and solar technology,

    as well as strong communication and organizational skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Management

    • Plan, execute, and oversee solar projects from inception to completion,

    managing budgets, schedules, and resources.

    • Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project

    milestones are achieved.

    • Conduct weekly progress meetings and provide regular updates to

    stakeholders, including clients and senior leadership.

    • Manage risk through ongoing oversight and evaluation of progress reports

    and resolution of project issues.

    • Assist with grant writing, budgeting, and reporting for public and private

    funders.

    Construction Management

    • Review and approve project budgets and schedules, including permits,

    consultants, and construction costs, as needed.

    • Negotiate construction contracts, ensure compliance with grant

    requirements

    • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and nonprofit

    funding requirements.

    • Monitor productivity, profitability, and adherence to the National Electrical

    Code and solar-related standards.

    Client and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with community partners, beneficiaries, government agencies,

    and contractors.

    • Establish and maintain strong and diverse relationships with clients,

    contractors, internal and external project teams.

    • Communicate project progress and outcomes with internal and external

    stakeholders.

    • Help the project team facilitate community meetings and engagement

    sessions to ensure local input and transparency.

    • Support business and workforce development efforts by advising on-site and

    building configurations to enhance project outcomes.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Commitment to environmental justice and working with diverse

    communities.

    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven experience managing solar or renewable energy projects, preferably in

    a nonprofit or community-based setting.

    • Proficient in MS Office, project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet), and

    single-line solar installation drawings.

    Knowledge of solar technologies, permitting, financing models, and

    incentives (e.g., ITC, net metering).

    • Expertise in budgeting, scheduling, cost analysis, and change management.
    • Reliable vehicle and/or ability to travel to project sites as required.

    Verde staff to funders.

    • Exercise strong attention to detail, effective time management,

    organization, and planning.

    • Work independently, delegate tasks, assign roles, exercise sound judgment

    and problem solving.

    Knowledge Of:

    • Nonprofit, small business, and/or hybrid governance and management

    structures and related regulations.

    • Understanding of, exposure to, or interest in social justice,

    entrepreneurship, and systems change strongly preferred.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bilingual (Spanish, Somalian, Vietnamese, Other)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Project

    Management, or related field

    • Knowledge of solar equipment, NEC regulations, and commissioning

    processes; NABCEP Certification

    Working Conditions

    • Verde implements a hybrid work model. At least one day a week will be

    required to work at the office.

    • This work can require minor physical exertion, but there may be situations that

    require being outdoors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.

    • Some weekend and evening work will be required
    • Work is often fast-paced and requiring attention to multiple detailed projects

    with deadlines
