    JOB SUMMARY

    Under the direct supervision of the Student Support Manager, the ASE Student Support Coordinator serves as a member of the Student Support Program (SSP) team. The SSP team works to address social and economic barriers that affect student/learner persistence and success and provides support for academic, professional and personal goals attainment. This is a direct service position that involves regular meetings (in person and/or remote) with students, instructors, other student support staff and referral partners, presentations and workshop facilitation, onboarding and continuing support for ASE students, including outreach and continuing support for program graduates. Position requires occasional evening availability to support classes that meet during the evening.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Support program goals related to student retention, academic outcomes, job placements, and education and training transitions.
      2. Collaboratively assist students with creating career maps, goal setting and developing goal aligned action plans, as well as tracking progress towards goal attainment.
      3. Provide case management support primarily through one-on-one meetings (in person and/or remote), to overcome barriers to attendance and success. Assist with referrals to access governmental or community support services as needed.
      4. Maintain up-to-date resource list; refer, and/or transition students to appropriate resources (e.g., job training, employment options, PA CareerLink® Centers, Office of Vocational Resources, social services, etc.) and assist students in making contact for transitions.
      5. Assess skills, experience, potential barriers, strengths, and career interests of students to identify most appropriate career pathways, trainings, and job openings.
      6. Plan and facilitate (in person or remote) monthly workshops focused on goal attainment (e.g., transitioning to post-secondary education, training programs, etc.).
      7. Help students with resumes, cover letters, job applications, interviewing skills and soft skill development through one-on-one sessions and workshops (in person and/or remote).
      8. Document and track student outcomes and interactions using program database.
      9. Co-facilitate in person and remote New Student Orientations and placements with the Intake and Education Teams every 8 weeks.
      10. Support Transition Goals through one-on-one meetings to ensure understanding and successful completion of application processes, including financial aid, assessments, and other procedural requirements, to provide bridge from BeLit to the new program.
      11. Assist Student Support Manager in engaging interns and volunteers.

    QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s degree required. A focus/major in Human Services or Behavioral Health preferred.
      • Two+ years’ experience advising or counseling adults, especially those from low-income communities, to meet educational and/or employment goals highly desirable.
      • Familiarity with social services local to the Greater Philadelphia region highly desirable.
      • Experience teaching, developing and/or facilitating workshops preferred.
      • Bilingual in English and French, Haitian Creole, Spanish, or Arabic desirable.

      • Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a student-focused, solutions-oriented outlook.
      • Ability to work well with diverse populations and develop positive relationships with students, colleagues and partners in the field.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
      • Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
      • Attention to detail; ability to write clear and concise case notes and other communications.
      • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite; experience using Microsoft Office 365/SharePoint a plus.

    Nível de Proficiência do Idioma

    Proficiency in written and oral English required. Basic to intermediate bi-lingual skills in English and French, Haitian Creole, Spanish, or Arabic desirable.
