    The Evaluation Manager plays a critical role in organizational impact. They drive the organization’s evaluation efforts, including strategy, design, implementation, and coordination. Reporting to the Research Scientist, this role focuses on measuring outcomes, documenting impact, and translating program data into clear, credible evidence that programming is working as intended and how to improve.

    The Evaluation Manager is highly collaborative across the organization. They work closely with the Campaigns team to ensure that evaluation is embedded into program design and implementation. By producing rigorous, accessible evaluation outputs, this role supports organizational learning, strengthens accountability, and contributes to demonstrating the value and impact of the work to internal and external stakeholders.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Serve as the evaluation expert on the team, establishing best practices to maximize program impact and external storytelling
    • Define, oversee, and implement the organization’s evaluation strategy from planning, coordination, and design through reporting
    • Collect, manage, and analyze evaluation data to report on program performance and outcomes
    • Develop and maintain an evaluation metrics dashboard and other resources to track program performance, outcomes, and key indicators across programs
    • Work closely with the Campaigns team to follow best practices, ensuring evaluation measures are embedded into program design and implementation
    • Collaborate with team members to align their evaluation work with the organization’s evaluation strategy, frameworks, and standards, even when this role does not directly manage the project
    • Regularly share impactful, accessible reports across the organization
    • Support the leadership team’s external communication of findings among partners, donors, and key stakeholders
    • Provide strategic recommendations on program adjustments based on evaluation insights
    • Maintain organized records of evaluation methods, findings, and reporting to support audits, funder requests, and institutional knowledge

    Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

    We are seeking candidates who are detail-oriented, analytically grounded, collaborative, and motivated by demonstrating real-world impact. The ideal candidate provides end-to-end stewardship of the evaluation work, combining strategic oversight with hands-on design, analysis, and delivery.

    Education and Experience:

    • Advanced degree in a related field
    • Minimum five years of experience in program monitoring, evaluation, and learning
    • Demonstrated experience leading evaluation end-to-end in nonprofit, advocacy, or social impact settings
    • Excellent writing, research, and presentation skills
    • Strong ability to communicate evaluation findings to non-technical and leadership audiences
    • Experience in creating informative and engaging data visualizations using industry-leading tools
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, work well under pressure and deadlines, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
    • Ability to effectively work and manage staff remotely

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Expert knowledge of evaluation design, outcome measurement, and impact reporting
    • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to demonstrate program effectiveness
    • Advanced statistics (statistical significance, regression, RCT design etc.)
    • SQL for complex querying and data manipulation
    • R or Python for statistical analysis and research computing
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
    • Ability to translate evaluation findings into clear, compelling narratives of impact
    • Managing multiple priorities while maintaining exacting accuracy
    • Experience in creating informative and engaging data visualizations

    Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

    • Familiarity with funder expectations, logic models, and theories of change
    • Experience with survey platforms, dashboards, or monitoring tools
    • At least one cycle of political work or volunteer experience

    Compensation & Benefits

    The starting salary range for this position is $88,000-92,000. Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
