Aperture is a nonprofit publisher that leads conversations around photography worldwide. From our base in New York, Aperture connects global audiences and supports artists through our acclaimed quarterly magazine, books, exhibitions, digital platforms, public programs, limited-edition prints, and awards. Established in 1952 to advance “creative thinking, significantly expressed in words and photographs,” Aperture champions photography’s vital role in nurturing curiosity and encouraging a more just, tolerant society.
With a capital campaign underway and new five-year strategic plan in place, Aperture is preparing to move from Chelsea to a new, permanent home on 380 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side of New York City.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an organized, creative, and proactive candidate to execute integrated marketing campaigns, manage advertising and circulation schedules, help build corporate partnerships, and assist in driving overall business growth for the organization. The Marketing Assistant plays a crucial role in working cross-departmentally to support our marketing initiatives, driving brand awareness, and enhancing customer engagement. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and project manager, with excellent attention to detail, and a passion for the arts and photography.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow in a dynamic, mission-driven organization—one where your creativity, strategic thinking, and initiative can directly shape how we connect with audiences and partners. You'll gain hands-on experience across multiple facets of marketing, sales, and communications while contributing to the visibility and impact of our programs, publications, and partnerships.

Aperture will be offering a salary of $45,000 - $55,000, depending on experience, along with excellent medical, dental, life, disability, and retirement plan coverage. Our staff also has generous vacation, sick leave, and personal days, access to a variety of cultural institutions, and a creative, professional, and collegial work environment. This position is based out of our New York City office, following a flexible hybrid work model with a minimum of three in-office days per week.
