    About Futures Without Violence

For over four decades, Futures Without Violence (FUTURES) has worked to transform the way our communities, workplaces, and institutions respond to violence and inequality. Today, as we look to the future, we are investing in a new generation of leadership and solutions—building cultures of connection, respect, and opportunity so that every person can thrive.

FUTURES is in an exciting period of renewal and growth. Our development function is shaped with fresh energy, creativity, and purpose. We are seeking a dynamic Development Manager to help build out this core function for a mission-driven organization working at the intersection of gender equity, health, and social change.

    The Opportunity

The Development Manager will be a builder, connector, and storyteller—someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment where new systems are being created and bold ideas are welcome.

You will work closely with the Senior Advisory to the President, the CEO, board and program leaders to strengthen our fundraising infrastructure, craft compelling proposals and donor communications, and manage a growing portfolio of philanthropic partners. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to play a pivotal role in helping shape the next chapter of FUTURES’ impact.

    Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Portfolio Management (25%)

    • Support the Senior Advisor and CEO in managing a growing portfolio of foundation, corporate, and individual funders.
    • Track deadlines, deliverables, and relationships across a diverse set of funders using Salesforce CRM.
    • Prepare high-quality briefing materials, funder updates, and correspondence to ensure seamless stewardship.
    • Help design and implement systems for prospect tracking, donor segmentation, and pipeline management as the development function scales.
    • Track and manage gift acknowledgments and reporting.

    Writing and Communications (25%)

    • Draft, edit, and coordinate proposals, concept notes, and reports that communicate FUTURES’ work in compelling and accessible ways.
    • Support message development and storytelling efforts across campaigns, appeals, and institutional proposals.
    • Collaborate with program staff to translate complex programmatic work into clear, persuasive language for donors and partners.

    Research and Prospect Development (15%)

    • Conduct strategic research on potential funders, individual donors, and corporate partners to identify new opportunities.
    • Help build and maintain an evolving prospect pipeline aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Prepare donor intelligence and landscape analyses to inform leadership strategy and outreach.

    Executive and Organizational Support (20%)

    • Partner closely with the Senior Advisor and CEO to prepare for key donor meetings, events, and external engagements.
    • Coordinate follow-up and relationship management activities stemming from CEO-led donor conversations.
    • Support board engagement, donor briefings, and events designed to build visibility and partnerships.
    • Manage logistics on board meetings.

    Ideal Candidate

A Builder: You are energized by building systems and strategies from the ground up. You like structure but aren’t afraid to start with a blank page.

A Writer and Communicator: You can translate ideas into powerful narratives, and you take pride in crafting clear, persuasive writing that inspires action.

A Relationship Manager: You understand that fundraising is about relationships. You’re organized, responsive, and proactive in keeping others informed.

A Collaborator: You thrive in a team environment and enjoy working across departments and leadership levels.

An Entrepreneurial Spirit: You bring curiosity, initiative, and a “roll up your sleeves” mindset to everything you do. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and excited by growth.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree or equivalent with 5 years related work experience or combination of education/training and work experience (10 years combined) in fundraising, philanthropy, or marketing.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Experience with donor databases (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) and prospect research tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively with senior leadership.
    • Deep commitment to the mission and values of Futures Without Violence, including advancing gender equity and social justice.

    Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position. The pay rate is $95,000/annually. This salary is based on a standardized compensation structure that is transparent across the organization. Please note that the salary is non-negotiable and, like all positions at FUTURES, is eligible for step increases as part of our commitment to thriving wages for all staff.
